Even after the lightest drizzle, my backup camera is covered in droplets of water that make it almost impossible to use. I have the normal windshield formula of RainX, but I've heard mixed reports of it causing haze on plastics. I know there's a formula for plastics, but I'd rather not buy a whole 12oz bottle just for the tiny camera cover.

Has anyone here put RainX on their backup camera? Did it work fine or cause issues with the plastic?
Thanks!

That’s a really good idea! I’m going to give a go and also do this with the HRV. THANKS!

Once a month I clean and re-RainX my windshield, so while I'm doing it I go ahead and do my backup camera too. No issues with any haze. I think it helps some, but it doesn't totally solve the problem.

It would be cool if they could figure out how to tuck the backup cam in like they did with the lanewatch cam. (that thing NEVER gets wet, or dirty, or fogged up... witchcraft I say)

Mixed results. I only tried it a few times and I have no conclusion based on a scientific study. Where I live at least, the problem isn't so much the water but the road sleet that shows up on a warm winter day and melted snow and ice slush and grime gets on the lens. It's inevitable.

I was going to take a small piece of plastic and attach it to the top of the camera.... much like a lens flare hood, if you will. Figured even something small would hopefully allow the water to not collect on the lens, and of course hopefully not obstruct the camera itself.

I'm going to try some of a Nano-coat spray I've been using, water just sheets off anything I've used it on, going to rain here Friday, guess I'll find out. Its called "The Final Coat", works wonders on our Black Fit EX

I've tried it. I live in Portland, Oregon, where it rains 13 months out of the year (haha). It works. I RainX my backup camera and the side camera. Actually, Ive RainX'd every piece of glass on my car including the sunroof and spent most the summer layering LiquidGlass all over my paint so nothing really sticks to any exterior surface of my car now.

Rain x is complete crap . Use gc800 glass cleaner and apply aquapel. Still works in rain after 6 months .

It's nice you don't need wiper at above 35 mph . I hate moving wipers .
