I recently tried to install a Hydro Shield onto my Cobra CAI. I failed.

I ordered Injen 1035BLK. Was just 1 inch to small width wise to slide on.

What shield does everyone use on their PRL CAI??

Im looking at X-1033Red now?

Someone make this chase end please.

you don't need one. you shouldn't be driving in deep water.

you need to find the measurement of your filter and go by that.

the one you listed is Fit filters with 6" diameter base x 5" height x 5" diameter top.

Which shield do I use on my Cobra? I am shielded by common sense and I use that to avoid fording rivers and streams.

Seriously what's the point of installing an air intake and then restricting the air it intakes?

Living in the High Desert of southern california, we recently had a flash flood from the storm last week. The roads were as deep as 15-20inch on the MAIN roads LITERALLY dead smack in the middle of the roads. I had to turn around twice to make it home safely. And i had installed my CAI 1 day prior.

TODAY i go to attempt the put on a Hydro shield(too small) and noticed there was NEW muddy splash marks all over the CAI piping that was brand new 4-5 days ago.

Im only gonna run the hydro shield in winter. Being flash floods are common.

And according to PRLs website. I took the dimensions of the filter. Found the Injen Blk with the same measurments. And it was wrong. So now to try Red which seems a tad bit bigger then the actual filter

Might be a good idea to buy their SRI converter for the CAI for times as treacherous as those you described.

This cracks me up, even though I chickened out and went with the PRL SRI myself...:)

I got the 1035 Red and yeah it was a tight fit but I was able to get it on after a few minutes of finaggling. It isn't a perfect fit but close enough. I don't have a picture on me.

I did check out some reviews. I know they won't help if the car is submerged but I wanted some confidence during rainy weather. I live outside Chicago and with winter here the roads stay wet and slushy more.

Damn... i already sent it back for the 1033. Now i know 1033 will fit for sure though if you got 1035 to fit.

You mustve had the filter off the tubing? I tried it while the filter was on and it was painstaking, had it on about 85ish%

Yeah it was off the tube. I bought the shield and Cobra kit at the same time and haven't installed it yet. I guess we should mention that the 1035 needs to be installed with the filter off the car. It has to be shimmied once you reach the 85% mark, and I used pliers to help pull it over the lip.

Damn I forgot to take a picture when I got home...

I forgot to reply to this. That seems completely unnecessary. Do i carry the SRI in my trunk and when a FLASH FLOOD happens pull over and do a quick swap? Lol...
