Had my first maintenance (A) done by local trusted mechanic ... would you recommend having my next scheduled (B) performed at Honda due to the longer list of items to check ?

the second service is important as thhere is some brake maintenance they need to do. without it the rear brakes will seize. take it in.

Thanks. Not due anytime soon, just looked at the list of things to check and figured it’d be worth taking to a Honda dealer ...

I’m at 80% oil life ... I assume this means my B maintenance will not be due until I get to 15-20% and my MM wrench pops up?

Winter is upon us, was planning on doing an oil change around March / April in case oil is diluted ... or does MM take this into account?

Be specific on what needs to be done at service B for the brakes not to get seized. Otherwise your statement is BS

The brakes won't seize. But it's good to clean and lube the brakes once a year. Also, you can buy a cabin and engine air filter online if needed and change those yourself. The glove compartment comes out and the cabin filter is right behind it.

If brakes are seizing there's a defect there.

I'd take "trusted mechanic" over "a dealer" regardless of what level of maintenance is needed (presuming they know what they're doing?)
Just look up what needs to be done and hand him the list.

I really need to find one for myself that's close... Not getting a great vibe from the nearby dealer, and my previous "trusted mechanic" is too far now. :(

BTW if anyone knows some secret directory of trusted local Honda mechanics, please let me know; Google hasn't been of much help there...

I'll probably be due for B in a few months ... if things need to be done is this covered under warranty? Was planning on using the dealer since it's a much longer list of check points than the simple A oil change.

lolwut?

Service B just means they are going to inspect more things. That means the service writer is going to give the tech a colorful piece of paper and the tech is just going to see you have 15,000 miles and he's going to check every green box and tires as yellow so they can sell you tires sooner. You should ask to see the results from your valve clearance check test. That'll be a funny one to watch them talk their way out of.

Speaking of valve clearance. Has anyone had theirs done?

Honda tech posted a list a year ago or so. Also Honda dealers usually charge 35-40 in my area for a oil change and check for coupons on service specials

I just hit 20k miles on my 2017 EX-T. Got it brand new with only 10 miles total on it in May of 2017.

So far I have only had to do oil changes and tire rotations. I ask the place that does it to inspect the brakes and what not and so far it's been okay. They also top off fluids and such, standard practice for most reputable places.

I haven't printed any of those fancy whatever lists though.

I checked my valve clearances at 20K on my 2.0L and they were perfectly within spec. I wouldn't even bother with this unless you have a reason to. I doubt there's any dealer that actually does this as part of an inspection because it needs to be done on a cool engine.
