Long story short i commute and it's like 70 mph in the middle lane of 3. I don't try to gun it, but is this speed going to have me going to rough during break in? So far i've been remote starting for 10 min before i leave to get the temp warmed up and haven't been gunning it but i'm still nervous.

Not an issue. Also, remote starting for a long time, in the cold, will put more gas in your oil.

Break in is an RPM/heat management thing.
In the interest of longevity and optimal ring sealing, you don’t want to exceed 4000rpm while a new engine is wearing itself in.

My understanding about break-in period for the engine is trying to vary the RPM, not vehicle speed. This is of course easier with a manual transmission, but if you have shift-paddles you can kick down for a couple of minutes, and then upshift and repeat, while obviously making sure you don't get anywhere near the red line.

I have heard various makes and models put the limit at about 4000 RPM during break-in period; some add "for extended period." Personally, I really try to baby the car for those first 500-1000 miles (engine, brakes, transmission
-- I drive manuals).

I just did rear brakes and they recommended 5 40-10 mph hard stops without stopping, followed by 5 30-5 mph stops and a 5 min drive without stops to cool brakes down. My ATV manual said to not idle, lug or redline engine until broke in, many ways to properly break something in, rule of thumb is don't abuse it and change oil a little early

I've got this thing where every new car I've bought, within the first 50 miles, I warm it up for about 15 minutes then I slowly bring it up in low gear to redline and then I ease off and repeat 7-8 times then I vary the engine speeds until 500 miles then I let her rip!

Hasn't failed me so far.

The manual says:

During the first 600 miles (1,000 km) of operation, avoid sudden acceleration or full throttle operation so
as not to damage the engine or powertrain.

Avoid hard braking for the first 200 miles (300 km). You should also follow this when the brake pads are
replaced.

So to me, other normal driving stuff is ok. I trust Honda engineers :p

I know others retain some previous knowledge from way older cars, but the times they a changin

Gawd we are not a asking spacecraft! It’s a car, drive it without abuse first 500 or so miles and vary rpm. FYI every Porsche engine gets redlined on a dyne after build, if turbo that thing is glowing red. I assume they still do this, I whitnessed it some years ago at the factory.

Yup, "break-in" window is around 25 miles relatively so it is CRUCIAL to load the engine immed after first warm up.

Drive gently at any speed,
Idle 10 minutes before starting ; car don't need that and might be not good, best is to drive few minutes at city speed if you can.
