Hey guys, I have no idea what this is... but hoping someone has an idea, and also how to fix it. It looks like it would just wipe off, but it doesn't.

I haven't sprayed anything on/near the car at all. We had a winter storm last week and I noticed it maybe a day or two after the snow and ice came. I figured it was just salt and would wash off later. When I washed the car today, found out that it is stained this way somehow. No idea where to even start and don't want to make it worse. Any help appreciated. Thank you!

I would try some oil-based cleaner, like furniture polish, maybe the citrus oil kind

Thanks for the tip. Helped a little but it looks like whatever it was has actually bleached the color of the plastic in those spots. Maybe I'll be able to work out some options before Spring to fix it.

Flying Bird Poop ? Circle at top, and then it ran, leaving the outside of the circle at top as it dried out on the outside where it was thinnest.
Probably the sun dried it up, as it eat into the paint.

Bird poop does not have to stay on paint long to eat into it :(

Not sure if these would work, but I would start with clay bar. Or maybe using some super clean? If those don't work, I would try some rubbing hand polish or compound.

Basic question : Is the surface "Painted" or "Plastic" ??
If the stain on the surface, or has it eaten into the Paint / Plastic.
If it has eaten into the clear coat, how deep-- has it reached the paint ?
If there any sign of similar staining anywhere else ? (especially on the red paint )

That's just plastic trim...if that's bird doo, you're just best off getting it wrapped or get some eBay 'stickers' in your choice of style

If it's plastic trim, I would try wet sanding it with like 1000, and then buff it with a cutting polish .. you will either correct it or if it still looks bad, time to cover it.

In hindsight, a good sealer, or even Ceramic Coating might have given it more protection.

Thanks for all your help, everyone. I think I will look at having it wrapped when I tint the windows.
