Hey all, question for you guys.

I have a 2018 Touring and my infotainment system is not automatically going into DAY mode / NIGHT mode. At night, I have to physically press the button at the top to switch it over to night mode every single time. Is there any way to have this happen automatically? I feel like I've looked everywhere in the settings for an option but can't find anything.

Thanks!

Turn your dash brightness down, you have it all the way up. It's the Trip Reset knob - turn it counter-clockwise. On the highest setting it does not dim when the lights are on.

Oh man thank you! Hopefully this is the problem :) Appreciate it!

EDIT: You're indeed the man, it worked! I thought my trip knob wasn't working correctly, but turns out it can ONLY be done when it's actually dark out? lol.. you really can't adjust the brightness with the trip knob at all when it's during the daytime. How dumb. But thanks!!

On the 1.5L Touring you can turn down the dash brightness it seems only when some sensor on the car figures it's dark enough outside. Unfortunately however it figures out how dark it is outside is not perfect, there are times when it's overcast and it think's its bright outside but really I'd like to turn down the dash brightness.

Can one not adjust dash brightness when it's bright outside? When I turn the knob when it's bright outside nothing happens.

You must have your headlights set to "Auto", because that's the only way the lights change in relation to the ambient light. I never use AUTO so I can't speak to that.

But no, just like every other car I've ever driven (and you too), you can't change the dash brightness when your lights are off (this includes when you're on AUTO and it's bright out, hence the lights aren't on). This is just common sense.

It's ashame our cars don't come with some kind of manual that might tell us this type of information. Oh, wait......

According to the manual, nothing is stopping you from doing so in the daytime, you just need to adjust your light mode. Turn your lights to anything other than "OFF" or "AUTO" (i.e. "parking") and then it appears you can dim the dash, regardless of daylight.

Thank you for the information. Honestly I don't know why the manual did not come to my mind. I think I assumed that it would have been a major chore to find such specific info or the manual might not contain such detailed info.

And yes, I have it on Auto all the time, because in the Touring you can set it to Auto so that the low beam is always on, and the lights shut down when you get out the car and close the door, a nice convenience.

Is there a way to manually dim the rearview mirror? Mine rarely dims and it kills my eyes. :hater:
Maybe because I am tall and have it angeled towards the roof but still can see entire rear window.
Also, the Auto recirculation turn off when defrosting front window which sucks in exhaust fumes. All my Hondas did that. Need to turn that feature off.

I did seed the sound tab, and the adjustment for: bass, treble, and sensitivity. However, no longer see it.... please help me find that again? I would like to adjust the mixer....

P.S. I have the 2018 EX HB

i'm tall as well, are you saying that flipping the bottom switch doesn't change anything or that you can still see the whole rear window in the 'alternate' reflection.. because that's by design, you will still see out behind, just not the direct light.

For Auto-Recirc.. it has to pull in fresh air to be properly effective. the reason there is fog inside is the humid air.. if you don't pull in non-humid air all you are doing is circulating the humidity which the heater can promptly .. The AC system (which is used to provide some of the dehumidification) cannot do 100% of the work, it needs a fresh source of air to actually do its job efficiently. i've never had an issue with exhaust fumes, but i'm not generally sitting in traffic long enough to notice

There's nothing to flip on these rear view mirrors. They are auto dimming and you really can't control when it dims.

ooooh, hah. brain fart, sorry. i have the cheap mirror with the lever. In my truck, I just adjust the auto-dim mirror up in the exact manner by grabbing a hold of it and twisting :)

I found it... Menu -> sound.

Also, even if you don't have auto dimmer. You can flip and it will dim. It's a manual process but still functional.

HondaHack has a setting for this.

I've spent several hours now looking into DSP Flat for my Touring sedan. Is it absolutely not possible to achieve this without more equipment?
