Maybe a silly question - but has anyone who's done this mode noticed any difference in the quality of the microphone that you are also replacing by using an older mic? As someone who's already frustrated with Android Auto, I'm concerned about degrading the quality of the mic in any way. Thanks in advance!
I used the same mic that came in my Si with the same fear you are having. I did not experienced any issues.
why don't you keep your mic?

So I'm about to do this swap myself.

I negotiated with my dealer to take $329 off the purchase price of my Touring since this was the only feature it lacked for me. The $329 is the price of an aftermarket HomeLink dimming mirror. So I took the car to a local installer who stocks these mirrors on Wednesday to have them install the mirror for $375.

After about 15 minutes of waiting, the technician called me back to take a look. Unfortunately, all of the equipment between the mirror and the windshield as part of the Honda Sensing package interfered with the larger mirror & the mirror could only be adjusted high enough to let you look at the back seats. You couldn't tilt it up enough to see out the back window. They told me they could cut in a HomeLink module in the headliner, but I definitely don't want that.

So I ordered a used HomeLink kit on ebay for $90 yesterday: http://www.ebay.com/itm/162014381073. I told the installer that I was going to go this route & he told me to bring it in and they'd install it for like $50. I'll decide once it arrives what to do, but I will definitely be printing this first post out to either do it myself or give it to the installer.

Thanks for the tips!
What installer did you take it too? I'm thinking of doing this but don't want to wire the stuff myself. Idk what installer to take it to.

Or does anyone have a link to the black unit?
Your first post... That will work. As far as getting an OEM black unit, you either need to pay to play (new from Honda will cost you over $400) or get busy calling wrecking yards. I never see the black homelink on eBay but I did find mine by calling a Honda recycler.

Alternatively, you can paint it.

Or I could just wait and get the homelink mirror from the 2019s...that might be the cheaper route at this point

Those gonna be less than picking up a used homelink?
No the mirror route will also be up there in prices, but I've never been able to find a black unit. You can go the used way and it'll be cheaper but you'll get a different colored homelink area

page one of this thread will be your best friend, its easier than it looks, only need 2 wires to make it work, like the pic attached,

i connected the 4 wire method so that the homelink buttons would dim and brighten with the gauges

Did you have to splice into the OEM harness or is this 100% PnP? If you did not splice can you provide more detailed instructions?

Do you have a pic of exactly where the 4 wires go on the console.. not just on the module?

Thanks.

Hey ebang,
I don't have pictures currently but they might not help either because you have to figure which rail is your ground.
If your ground is the bottom rail like mine then try this.
Pin 1 & 2 goes into BOTTOM RAIL (ground).
Pin 5 goes into MIDDLE RAIL (dome light?).
Pin 4 into TOP RAIL.

Just make sure you know which one is ground. Then Pin 1 & 2 will both go there.
Pin 4 and 5 will go 1 each to the other 2 rails. If all functions do not work for you, try swapping them around.

Pin 1: Variable ground for the button illumination (dimming feature)
Pin 2: Ground
Pin 3: Not used
Pin 4: +12v for the button illumination (headlight switch controlled)
Pin 5: +12v (constant)
