Hello All,

My first guide here, so bear with me! This guide is more so on my suggestions for tucking PU leather into your 10th gen doors. I found several useful videos for the disassembly of the doors on youtube:
credit: BTurismo

If you're like me: you bought a cloth interior civic and find it scratchy and uncomfortable, but didn't want to pay up for leather interior...

Honda Civic 10th gen Leather Door and Armrest wrap upgrade - EBAY P_20180714_150004_v_HDR_On

Pros:
- looks nicer
- resistant to spills/scratches
- I don't think this can really void your warranty in any way...

Disclaimer:
I take no responsibility for any broken clips or damage that occurs during the install. perform at your own risk, buy at your own risk

Step 1 (Video summary): Removing doors
Very similar between all doors, coupe models not included

- Pry open the plastic armrest according to BTurismo's video (part 9 below)
- You may break a clip or two, so be careful when lifting the first plastic armrest, remove wires
- Remove (1) long screw securing the door (part 20 below)

- Pull the door panel straight out towards your body to release the door, try not to lose green clips.
*Rear doors have another clip in the upper rear corner, see video. Some models may have a tweeter speaker wire

Step 2: Disassemble armrest from door
- Remove the 9+ screws (front door has more) with a crosshead screwdriver, removing all of them allows enough give to tuck the PU skin cleanly.

- Pry the cloth armrest (part 8 or 12) upwards to release the armrest from the door
- Remove door trim from behind (clips). Mine was Carbon Fiber plastic

Step 3: Cover evenly with provided double sided tape

- This video shows pretty thoroughly how to tape the surface before wrapping. The provided tape is quite sticky, but can come off in one piece if you need to undo the wrap/retape

Step 4: Wrapping the Armrest
This is the easiest, very little tucking. Just make sure you apply even pressure and smooth out any kinks/bubbles. Try to make sure there is enough material on exposed areas. You don't want to feel or pull the edges up during use!

- Line up the red stitching with the corner of the armrest
- Press down evenly from the center of the red line, always pushing out
Honda Civic 10th gen Leather Door and Armrest wrap upgrade - EBAY P_20180714_210053_v_HDR_On

- You may use some force to stretch the material to ensure coverage, it's held up pretty well!
- Curl edges up and under the armrest
- You're done! Set aside for assembly later

Step 5: Wrapping the door cards
This is the most time consuming and endearing part! Use the long, flat tucking tool. It's NOT A SQUEEGEE!! It'll probably scratch the surface. Take your time, tuck all the corners in. Here are some tips:

- Start from the front of the panel at this corner:
- Do the first short straight edge near the front. Tuck it in a good 1/2-1 inch under the panel first. See below, it's been done
- THEN APPLY the tape to the door. Just like in the chinesey video. This allows you to get the positioning you want, and ensures enough material in the right places.
- Note the ideal alignment follows the factory design, the corner of the stitching IS NOT the corner of the door panel.
- Position the edges where the material and stiching meets so that they hide away when tucked
Honda Civic 10th gen Leather Door and Armrest wrap upgrade - EBAY P_20180714_213252_v_HDR_On

- Once you've applied the tape evenly, remove the backing and stick the skin on (again::eek:nly when you're satisfied with the positioning)
- Smooth out the center of the door panel, again pushing out to the edges.
- NOW TUCK TUCK TUCK!
- It helps to push IN against the leather, and when lifting the tool pull OUT against the plastic door. (You'll know what I mean)
- Try to avoid scratching the plastic surfaces, the tool is nylon so it's pretty soft. You may choose to use painter's tape. I was just...careful.
- The surface looks best when all edges are completely and smoothly tucked in. You'll find lots of wrinkles if you tuck in only one direction - Once you've got your edges in, go along the edges in reverse and the wrinkles will disappear!

- This is what the last edge will look like before final tucking. Try and slip everything inside the door panel. It may feel a little loose or you may have some gaps. These will go away when the screws are reinstalled.

- Here's the finished product, driver's door. I suggest starting with one of the rear passenger doors because that will likely be your "practice" door. (unless you go back and re-do it)

Tada! Looks great, took about 4 hours to unpack, install, reinstall all the doors.

Step 6: Reinstallation
- Reinstall in reverse, you may choose to do a little more tucking once the door is in place.

Step 7: Where to buy

This is where I bought it from: TOPAUTOSELL2014
https://www.ebay.ca/itm/For-Honda-1...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

They included plenty of tape, the required tools, and they responded/shipped pretty quickly.

They have other designs as well, or the armrests just by themselves.

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Car-Door-Ar...48397186?epid=17012690116&hash=item1c8e6a0582

Since I was making a guide, I asked them if they would give CivicX members a discount, and they said yes!!
Shoot them an offer when purchasing and ask for 10% off and include the code "CivicX"

ENJOY and post pics?

Cheers

I plan to do the center console as well, but it'll be exactly the same with much less tucking :D

Correct: no it does not, mine is in the mail at the moment.

I believe it is a similar if not the same material as the doors. I am impressed so far for $60 cdn, so I'm looking forward to the console when it gets here :)

I'll be sure to report back once I install the console wrap. I did have to buy from another seller for the console item.

The door/armrest from this guy was the cheapest, so I got it from this seller. That being said I'm 99% sure they all come from the same factory and will match :D

Replacing my armrests is getting more and more tempting the whiter they get, but is it safe to assume I'd need a different kit than the one for sedans? The coupe doors are obviously longer, but is the armrest I wonder? I didn't see any kits for coupes on ebay.

I think having leather in those places would clash with the fabric Si seats.

I don’t so much mind the fabric in the Si. I am disappointed they didn’t red stitch the center console though like they have in previous generations. Hell they didn’t even red stitch the backseats in the coupe.

did you break the green ones? The black clips are part of the door and molded plastic... Repair would probably be limited to superglue/epoxy. Unless you want a new door. Depending on how many you broke, the door shouldn't rattle much if at all
