Well, I'm finally done with buying and installing the spare tire kit for my Si sedan.
The part was on back order for a few months, every time I called them I was told that they had supplier issues.
I placed the order on 9/1/2018 and it was delivered on 11/23.
I paid $317.39 including shipping to Fairfax, VA. On which I received a $50 refund. No idea why.

Unfortunately, the spare wheel adapter was slightly damaged in delivery, so I ordered a new one from eBay $9.70

The tire itself was T125/70D-17 FALKEN FK-090 SL which I got from tire rack for $59.15. This thing sat in storage for 2 months before the kit showed up. Both were ordered on the same day.

Lastly, At the gas station opposite my house, mounting the tire to the rim was $15.

Here are a few photos of the final install.
The only downside, trunk space is significantly lesser. But if I need trunk space I will just use my Honda Pilot.

Man that sucks that the space is reduced so much.. I have to fit a stroller + groceries back there.

Plus with it being a lease IDK if I want to sink $1 into the car.

But if a tire goes flat on a road trip I am up shits creek..decisions decisions..

Well the inflation kit that come along with the car is total garbage.
Firstly, it is single use.
To replace the kit after a flat it's about $120.
The paste that it uses is terrible to clean and it literally gets all over you rim and car.
The paste can mess up your TPMS sensor.
If space is a concern for you, i would suggest a temporary spare and keeping it in the trunk after removing the tray.
When your lease is up you could probably sell the spare online.

There is no loss of space if you remove the cover and just put the spare into its well, FWIW. There's loss of flatness :), but 99.9% of the time it doesn't need to be flat, for all practical purposes...

I saw someone used the coupe insert for the spare and it looked a lot better than getting all the foam pieces that raise the floor a few inches.. Ill probably go that route next year sometime. I have no desire to use the inflation kit our cars came with. And honestly Id rather have a little more weight in the back for a daily driver. I havent had tire issues yet in KY but in Atlanta I had a few flats on my Focus ST that had the same wheel/tire size as the SI.

I've finished the rough install of my DIY spare tire kit. I used the dense pink foam insulation board that's available at home improvement stores to raise the floor just like the OEM kit does. The tools are wrapped in bubble wrap and tuck just behind the spare tire. The stock carpet doesn't cover the sides, but you could either live with it or use an OEM rubber trunk mat like I did. You can pick up a spare tire and kit from some other Honda product for cheap, and this whole project should easily come in for under $200 even with the trunk mat. Much better than the $500 you'd have to spend for the Si-specific one.

I am definitely going to go the DIY route. Give my girlfriend and I our first "car project" together now that winter break is around the corner. Any tips on this? Also I am assuming you're still going to lose roughly the same trunk space as the actual Honda kit?

I was thinking on getting the Honda RSX Type-r (DC5) spare wheel .The 05-08 Acura RL has the same spare but with a wider tire.
It's a aluminium spare wheel 5x114.3 17x4" with T135/70D17 102M tire and it clears the big brembo brakes on the DC5 .
The Acura RL has a T155/70D17 110M tire .Lightweight spare that fits with possible BBK.

Curious..will this work? https://estore.honda.com/honda/part...e&m=2018-civic-2-si-6mt&b=BOP10&dl=207442#009

Looks like it has all the parts. I proceeded to do a check-out to see the price and it came to $284.20 to pick up at dealer. Additional $35 if shipped to address.

One thing to check in the Honda Kit .. is there a handle for the jack !!
I don;t think there is, so you have to use wheel nut wrench to turn the jack. PITA.
