Looks like a lot not covered in the Honda Care paperwork I was sent from Hyannis. I asked Sean about it for technicality questions and I didn't really get a straight answer. Seems typical for warranties so I wasn't surprised. hahaha Was hoping since a Honda manufacture warranty it would be a no brainer and straight forward, but not feeling that way. Any thoughts anyone? Has anybody had experience using the extended warranty past factory 5yr/60K?

All of those things are regular comsumable maintenance items and or exterior bits not vital to the operation of the car.

I wouldn't expect a warranty to fix all of my squeaks, my dented fenders, broken mirror glass, etc. These items listed are all wear and tear.

I am more thinking the things listed like "heater hoses and vacuum hoses, exhaust system; head pipes; tailpipes; catalytic converter; mufflers; hangers; heat shields; gaskets, fuel hoses;"

I have a feeling vacuum issues will arise on our cars. Exhaust system is not really a biggie, but still. The one that really sucks is gaskets aren't covered. So a head gasket for instance isn't covered which can be a common issue.

I am with you on not expecting it to cover dented fenders, broken mirror glass, and etc...

Weird, the place i bought my warranty from lists gaskets as covered items:
https://www.saccuccihondacare.com/coverage.php

Same with : https://www.curryhondacare.com/coverage.cfm

I think that part regarding no coverage in context is talking about exhaust gaskets.

Well, the terms and conditions are clearly set forth in the form contract they give you before you sign up. Whether or not an extended warranty is “worth it” (as in, did the repair costs actually covered by the warranty exceed the warranty’s price) for any given individual consumer really is a total crapshoot, so if you have any reservations or concerns, you probably ought to skip it.

I view these things as a hedge . . . . in other words, an assurance that my out-of-pocket cost for the covered repairs would not exceed $1,050 for 8 years/120,000 miles (with no deductible, of course). So, I personally don’t care if the warranty is “worth it” when viewed after the fact with 20/20 hindsight.

Kinda like how I don’t care if my flood insurance (which is not mandated by a lender) is “worth it” along those lines — it’s a hedge to limit exposure in the worse case scenario.

Also, people need to take into account that both parts and labor will increase substantially over the next 8 years thanks to inflation — that’s a given.

P.S. For those who say, “meh, it’s a Honda, it needs no warranty!”, I guess you haven’t seen the recent reliability surveys . . . . Not really where it used to be. Just sayin’

I got a quote from them after reading their site of what is and is not covered as it appeared they covered more or at least they claimed them did by the site, but after getting price and then paperwork it is the same as the other and doesn't cover gaskets. I asked them why the differnece in info and the contact said they looked into it and apparently the terms and conditions have changed and gaskets and my earlier statement of what is not covered is the most up to date.

So with changes I am now wondering if worth buying is worth it even more now so. hmmmm If I do it I plan to do my wife's Pilot and my Type R.

Man, I WAY overpaid for my 8/125k warranty. I'm definitely canceling and repurchasing.

With the dealers that a few of you mentioned, do they service other states? Saccucci and Hyannis? I'm in CA.

I'm in CA and bought my warranty from Saccucci. They sell contracts online for people in other states for this purpose.

PERFECT. I paid $2495 for my 8 yr 125k mile $0 deductible (Platinum Plan). I'm cancelling that today.

What plan did you go with? Platinum, Gold, Silver, Powertrain?

I'm not sure if they tier it by grade like that. Maybe your dealer referred to the different value add plans (maintenance, $0 vs $100 deductible, etc) by those names?

I got the 7 yr/100k mile, $0 deductible since i plan to be averaging that amount of miles every year.

Thanks! I just cancelled it today and repurchased with Saccucci. My dealer was shocked that they can offer it that low, so they asked no questions lol.

Yeah, it's tiered. The tier is just what is covered under HondaCare.

Thank you all for this thread!!

I just bought the no deductible 8 year/100K miles (D80) plan from Hyannis Honda for $935. Saccucci was $50 more for the same plan. Took about five minutes to buy the policy via phone with Sean.
