Here's the thing. Those in the know will laugh at you, hard. And those who are clueless and ignorant about cars would be none the wiser and wouldn't care.
Completely pointless.
I've also seen BMW "M" badges on base Civics. The laugh would be even harder in this case.

That is an excellent way of putting it. I like that.

I doubt anyone in the know would ever run into anyone that would see a car that was fake badged and think it looks better/makes it more "authentic". I did see a video the other day of this guy driving a fake FK2. I didn't finish watching it but first impressions were quite impressive. I guess if you're gonna fake it then fake it right.

Ha yea, and if I had a lesser Civic, I would actually try to go the other way... keep it a sleeper and mod it meaningfully to try and blow away the real thing lol.

The telltale giveaway for me is the lack of wider rear fenders and the four vertical vents on the front bumper. Every FakeR I’ve seen I was able to identify it was not real just on those two things alone.

Hopefully the part comes in relatively soon - I wonder if Honda would ship me one quicker if I proved I had a legitimate need instead of some bozo trying to put on badge on just to be a poser?

I think some parts should be VIN restricted - IE you have to have a VIN that matches the car the part actually is for - to order some of these. I get it, people are free to mod their vehicles as they want but there s a consideration that needs to be made for actual owners who are getting screwed out when they need them.

EDIT: Shop called in literally not even a minute ago and told me the badge came in. Going to go back after work today to get it installed real quick!

Doesn't Dodge do this with the Demon? You have to somehow prove you have a Demon before they'd sell you parts for it?

I saw a blue civic hatchback with a type r wing.
Only noticed it was a non type r because it did not have a type r rear splitter. :rolleyes1:
So I'm not surprised people are putting a Type R badge on their non type r lols

Yeah, I've seen people that put the wings on there civics. I don't think they're trying to mimic anything. ThrobbNation put one on his sport. He had a Sport, traded it in for a Type R then traded his Type R back in for another Sport. Then he put the wing on it.:hmm:

I don't personally think the red H emblem on lower trims is posing. People buy it because they like the way the red logo looks - they're not intentionally trying to fool anyone into thinking their car is a Type-R. Now, if you put badges for a higher trim on the back of the car, (ie. "Type-R", "Si", etc. on an LX, etc.) that's a different story.

Did you have to take the bumper or grill off to install? You made it sound easy. I thought I've read somewhere before that one would have to remove some parts to install it.

The bumper and grille were both replaced according to the shop I used. As for the badge I do not think anything was removed since I brought it in yesterday and it took about 6 minutes before it was installed.
