Do not under any circumstances act as if you are going to accept the car back with that engine in it. There is no chance that serious engine damage did not occur.
Oh I sure as hell won't. I told the guy on the phone I want a copy of a compression test at the minimum before I take the car back

Compression isn't what you need to be concerned with.

Everything that rotates in the engine is toast at this point.

Demand the engine be replaced in this instance. And the turbocharger, because if it isn't, it's probably going to fail next due to lack of lubrication.

I thought the compression test would give proof anything rotating is toast cause it wouldnt give normal pressures right? I'm not opposed to having the engine replaced but I also would like to get home considering I'm 500kms away lol

This. Do not take that engine back at all. If you didnt throw a rod, there is definitely at least a bent one. Get them to give you a new engine or a new car. Drain plugs dont just come out. Their tech fucked your car and they're on the hook for it.

I'd say that car is a week minimum from leaving Honda. Probably more like 2-3. They should definitely give you a loaner though. Not a good situation. Honda would typically charge around $10,000 in parts and labor for a repair like that. The expense isn't your problem though.

Assuming there is not a hole in the side of the block and they said they can "repair it", do not settle for a set of new bearings. (I've read about other dealerships trying to do that.) As Derek said, the turbo is likely trash, along with everything else oil runs through.

Yeah I'm currently fighting them on a rental car cause the dealership the car is at is refusing to give me a loaner and Honda roadside told me I have $500 max for a rental car.

Thanks guys you've been awesome!

They should be bending over backwards to take care of you! My suggestion would be to stop "fighting them" and just contact Honda directly. I'm sorry this happened to you, but I assure you that the manufacturer would like to know how one of their dealers is treating Honda customers. Good luck, I hope you get taken care of!

An engine run without lubrication will always have some sort of damage. (Cylinder wall, piston rings, rod bearings, crank bearings, cam bearings, turbo, etc.). The compression test could still be within spec, but damage has been done. It will creep up and bite you down the road! Demand an engine and turbo replacement, don’t settle for anything less.

Sorry you’re in this spot, stick to your guns!

Sucks this happened to your car man. Agree with everyone else though, the engine is a goner because even if they put a band aid over it it will eventually rip off god knows when. I hope they either give you a new car or a new engine and I also hope they wake the fuck up and give you a loaner car because this is something completely not at your fault. If I were you, I would be raging at them to give me a loaner because thats their job, to take care of the customer.

This particular dealership was the one that changed the oil last?

Yeah I'm starting to come to the same conclusion the more I think about it and what you guys are saying. It'll be one hell of a fight tho.

You shoulda heard the bullshit I had to go through just to get a rental

When I first read you had your oil changed recently I guessed not tightened drain plug.

MAKE SURE they give you a new engine.....try to go look at your car and mark somewhere on the engine block with a black marker without them seeing it of course.
Don't bend....they may say they can repair it and offer you an extended warranty or something, don't do it, a warranty is nice but you still risk days without a car. (I always try to negotiate a FREE car rental from any dealer I buy a new car from, make them WRITE it on the "Due Bill" and give you a copy, they usually agree)

Didn't read if you did this but this is a major repair I'd contact HONDA direct and open a claim with them........many dealers will work with you more willingly when they know you opened a claim with HONDA.

Really hope this really gets sorted out for the OP.
