2016 Civic EX-T Coupe MSM
Hey guys,

So I'm mulling over the idea of trading in my 2016 Civic EX-T Coupe for a 2017 Civic Si Coupe. The reason is simple: I've always wanted an Si and I like what I've seen and heard about the current 10th generation.

I bought my 2016 EX-T about a year ago and owe $15,000 on it. According to KBB, it's current trade in value in it's condition ranges from $16,300 - $17,500. So optimistically I could be looking at a positive equity of around $2,000.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Civic. It's been an amazing car for the first year I've driven it and I haven't had any problems whatsoever. That being said, the Si's manual transmission and sportier performance is what appeals to me, and I would love to upgrade to it if I can.

So what do you guys think? Should I trade in if I really want the Si? Or should I be happy with my EX-T and wait till I pay it off before trading it in?

If you're not taking a huge financial hit and you've always wanted it - go for it!

The SI coupe is definitely a fun little car! I say if it won't kill you financially then drive what makes you the happiest. If you feel like you are settling for your car now it only gets worse from there. Obviously scrutinize your financial situation and make sure it makes fiscal sense. Make sure to factor in the value of having fun with the risk of getting into trouble though.

Trade value is probably gonna get you even (if you're lucky). Then again it is end of quarter and new model year is coming in. I would make sure and work all the numbers before you even go to a dealership. You'll basically be starting all over and have lost whatever money you put down and all the payments since.

If you can break even on the trade why not.

The problem is it usually doesn't for that way.

Converting to 6MT alone is worth the upgrade, IMHO. Be sure to consider all your extra costs including licensing, doc fee, delivery, and extra taxes. If you can make it work I'm sure you'll love it. Good luck!

I wouldn't pay more than $500 (21,700) under invoice on a Si.. The 2018s are coming

I'm considering the same thing. I've got a '17 EX hatchback and the CVT is annoying me. Mine is paid for, but I really wish they made a Si HB; I don't want the extra expense of the R.

If you do get a sedan. And do it now dealers are trying to get rid of inventory we have some Honda dealers that still have brand new 2017 civic si's in Virginia.

I hate to bring reality into this thread but you do realize this thread is from a year and a half ago, right? I have the feeling the guy already made a decision on a vehicle. ;)
