Here is the funny thing . I have the 2017 ext 6 speed. I have about 24 k miles. I change the oil always at 4500 miles
This time , I did It at around 6300 with 40% oil life left. I decided to look to check the oil level. It was higher , and I could smell gasoline. The oil level was higher than it was after they changed 4 months prior. My advice is until Honda comes with a fix , don’t wait until 10 k miles to change the oil.

A fix is available in Canada for both the CRV and Civic! I am waiting to see how effective it is before buying a 2019 hatch. Love the car and I am sure problems will be resolved.

The Fix is not available in Ontario right now for the Civic. I was at the dealership yesterday and they are still waiting for the info from Honda Canada. I got a oil change but needed to pay for the oil filter go figure.

It is strange to have to pay for the filter! Oh well. I wonder, in the meantime, it would be good to keep the engine in lower gear during warmup (i.e. something like 3000 rpm) so it warms up faster (and hopefully evapourates the fuel more).

I received a recall notice from Honda Canada today for my 2018 Civic Si Coupe. Titled: Product Update and Warranty Extension campaigns: Engine Oil Dilution. See pic. Will update once the work is done.

"the car was about 0.5 quarts overfilled, that is normal" !!!

That's 1 pint of GAS in the oil ??? and that is acceptable as normal ???

Yes.

In the sense that it will not harm anything. The level is still not high enough to cause oil foaming, and the viscosity is still in range. It’s not like is seems, it’s like it is.

For example, as I wrote earlier in this forum, this (new) product is recommended by the manufacturer to be added to engine oil to replace 20% of the oil. (1 quart of the additive to 4 quarts of oil). I bought a bottle of this stuff out of curiosity and it’s not viscous like oil. It feels like water. It is also recommended as a fuel additive.
Do you think they kill the engines of their customers?
