2 things I'm researching this weekend,
Glove box damper and Glove box light

As some of you know, the glove box light is available in the 2019 Civics, which I think very likely we can retrofit it into our "older" model, is there anyone confirmed that there's a plug behind just made for that? And maybe even a harness to connect to the light assembly?

I know there're many ways to make that happen, but I'm the kind that will go OEM possible (and reasonable) :)

Similar thing to the damper, but it's still not available for the 2019 model, and many of us know that it's available in the EDM Civics, I've even check on my own glove box, other than the situation behind the panel left unknown, the glove box itself does have the part where the damper suppose to hook into, and above that on the panel there's this hole that is perfect for the damper arm to stick out.

So 2 questions now, 1) behind the panel would there be enough room to fit that damper in, and 2) which damper could we use? Share with other models like the Odyssey, Accord Crosstour, Clarity, or even the Acura TSX and TL? Or, is there anyone over in Europe would be able to get the part number for the right part? (Or even able to get the part itself?)

Note: mine's a 2018 Hatchback ST, and I was just at the dealer and confirmed the 2018 Sedans have different glove box and the panel above, so this damper thing probably not applicable to Sedans...

Great car but it's ridiculous they never put a light or damper in the glove box. I test drove the 2019 Insight a few months ago and that glove box also lacks a damper. I forgot if it had a light though. DUMB

We also need a lining in the glove box, the shiny, glossy plastic is horrible

I have a UK spec 1.5T Sport and just fitted the red LED sill kit and footwell light kit. In the process I damaged the rear part of the glovebox that the damper is attached to. I have my own automotive business and so this job was an easy fit but the trim is very fragile. Here is the Honda WebEPC schematic...

That's exactly what I'm looking for :) the glove box light assembly (34254-SWA-003), and I also need the part number for number 12&13 on the graph (the damper), also, back to the light, perhaps the pigtail that would plug into the light assembly so that the wiring can be cleaner. Much appreciated!

Possible, and I've also seen dampers for the Odyssey and the Clarity, all looks very similar, so perhaps many of them would fit, but there got to be one fit the best :)

Let me look into this. Is your vehicle LHD or RHD?

Thank you so much! Mine's a LHD (US model - if that makes a difference)

Yea I understand it may not worth to make something not mean to be on the car works, but I think this is something the car is designed to have, at least for a different market, and I'd love to reach its potential :) While I'm searching on that light assembly, I see other Honda forums (like the Fit, CRV, and Accord) has similar projects too, after all it's about the fun of DIY.

The light assembly, seems like it's also used in the 07-09 CRV here in the states, so dealers should have the part. Then I've also look into the Connector and wires, and these 2 parts may work (would be great to have stephenmeadows confirm on this)
04321-SH2-307 and 04320-SP0-A00
Bad thing is they come in bundles, so ordering one for each part number will give us more then enough parts (Or spare parts for other projects ;) )
After getting all these, I can see the next step is to tap the wire to an accessory power source, find a good ground, get a nice T10 LED bulb, and call that good.

This is true. That's why I just added a small stick-on LED light. It works perfectly for what I needed.
