If the Si could be as fun in a straight line as the srt-4 and still handle like it does... it would be killer... but that would take more displacement or E40 or big turbo to make up for being a tiny 1.5l then it loses the MPG... so really my point is its not a fast car, its zippy but not fast but its a better DD than the srt4 ever was. I just wish they would have made it a 1.8L or something to differentiate the Si from the other trims.

I believe that for the 19's, the only trim other than the SI that will retain the 1.5T will be the Touring model. The rest are getting the 2.0 N/A K-Series from the base model.

I guess that's one way to get differentiation, lol.

I would say it was no louder stock than my Si now with a catless d/p. intake noise and bov noise was identical stock for stock. So short answer is no sound had little to do with it. power is about the same with a ktuner TSP and catless dp compared to a stock srt-4 (04MY+). But delivery on the srt-4 was way more exciting, and it was noticeably faster. curb weight is close to the same power close to the same.
yep, that's a full liter more of displacement.

Of course there is fuel economy, braking, and handling to consider. The 10th gen SI has far better braking distance, road handling, and fuel economy. But the SRT4 Neon is also over a decade old, so it was impressive for it's time. I broke the 5 speed in my 2002 vf34 WRX racing a friends mopar stage 2 SRT4 He and I lined up often and it was pretty much a drivers race everytime since I didn't like launching. The one time I decided to launch hard, I destroyed 2nd gear on the 1-2 shift.

From a roll though... Thats where the srt4 shined. I den mention above though that the Si is better handling, fuel economy and more features. I mean I would hope after 15 years (the srt started as a MY03) that new stuff at that same price range would be better overall. And the Si is better, no doubt. I just wish it was a but faster and more exciting on acceleration. Maybe I will do a clutch then a W1 turbo and be happy haha.

since owning my 10g ive always felt that if honda released it with just 25 more hp/tq it would have been an even more well rounded performer. flashing it with the +6 of boost feels like it should have came that way from the factory.

**just to add, the tires you run on the 10th gen make or break the car

I'd have never traded mine in had I not run into a crazy deal for a Type R.

on a scale of 1-10 test being the fastest, stock for stock how much faster does your ctr feel over your si?

how much faster does it feel over your reflashed si (if it was flashed)

It wasn't flashed, I hadn't started on any mods yet, but I absolutely loved that car. That being said, there is absolutely zero comparison between the two cars. The SI was a quick, nimble, fun car, the Type R will put you back in your seat and make you say "Oh shit" while you're hitting the gas.

The Civic Type R is built with performance being one of the main priorities. The Si is not and because of that many compromises are made. In stock form, its excellent as a sporty commuter, but you will be left wanting more if your looking for more than that. The Type R would probably be a better match for me, but I don't know if its 10K better than the Si.

Paging @bushfreakz - since he owns both a 17 Si and a 17 Type R

Most people that I've talked to that have had both a 10th gen SI and R have said that even reflashed, it's a completely different car. One of my coworkers runs a car blog - he recently had the opportunity to compare the two, and he echoed this sentiment. He indicated that even the transmissions on the two were wildly different.

That said, I love modding, and wonder if it would be worth it to mod an R. It's already super linear in its power band, and I wouldn't want to ruin that with a peaky tune. I love my current TSP Stage 1 tune, but you can definitely feel the torque spike relative to the stock tune. There's also lots of reports of people with tuned R's breaking the tires loose in 3rd and 4th gear at 40+ mph when stepping down at 80% of WOT. not sure if it's worth it to add power when I can't really use it.

Loved my 94 Coupe Si, sold it for a 15 Coupe Si and traded that one in for 4 doors and a ton of space, my current hatchback.
Nice! Are you happy with the Hatchback? Faster than your old Si?
