Has anybody changed out their oem knob yet? If so how did you take off the stock one? I understand the boot needs to be pulled down, is there a wrench needed to hold one part of the shifter area while I twist?

Just dont wanna risk breaking it as I already tried twisting off the oem knob to no avail.

Need a 14mm open ended wrench to hold the flange nut in place while you twist the shift knob counter clockwise.

Look here for the Base Bushings Install Guide.

The stock 8th gen si knob is about 260grams, the 9th gen knob which I think is the same knob used in the 10th Si weighed around 150-160grams. The skunk2 weighs around 440grams. So big difference lol, the added weight will smooth out some of the notchiness you might feel with the stock knob. If you don't want something super heavy, a stock 8th gen knob is a nice middle ground between the heavy and lightweight knobs.

Does the nut you grab with the 14mm stay put and reattach to the future knob somehow? Or does the boot reattach to the nut? I feel like I'm asking that poorly... Does the nut include the part that you squeeze to hold the boot up?

I was wondering also does the shift boot just click back into place and where does that part actually attach to?

I'm currently using the Skunk2 knob and it's way heavier. The OEM one weighs next to nothing and is too small for me. The Skunk2 knob is over 400g and feels so much better. That being said, I just ordered a 1kg knob :)
