Hello im always wondering if I ended up over paying for my Championship White CTR. When I wen to the dealer (New Jersey) and the sticker was marked up to 50k. I told them the car is not worth more than 40k to me meaning id be willing to pay a 5k Mark up. We ended up settling on 39k if I took it that day (offered 25k down payment cash). Once I'm done paying I would have spent 44-45k on this car. Did I get a good deal? Its a 2018 by the way 13959.

Honestly, even with the markup, you're not doing too bad. I don't think most people are considering the financing cost; which you are.

That for example will cost about $43k if paid over 72 months.

I got mine for MSRP, put $5k down on a 5 year loan. If I take 5 years to pay it off, it will cost me about $41-42k. I plan to pay it off in 2-3 years.

As others have said...it doesn't REALLY matter whether others think you got a good deal. It just matters whether you feel that way.

How did you got the dealer to let you pay with AMEX card? I tried to do that with my wife's SUV and they only let me put 3k on it.

26 is a stretch, maybe low 30s because as long as it is a unicorn and faster than a Subaru STI, its not going to be cheaper. I think the price may dip for a few years but this car will be a classic in the long haul. For the record, unless you are lucky 26k won't even get you a clean 20 year old Integra Type R. It all depends on what Honda does in the next few years that will have the biggest impact on the Type R value.
I think that Honda is going to produce and sell as many as they can. I don't think they're interested in halting production so people can make more money on the secondary market in 20 years.

That is not what I implied at all and this isn't really about the FK8 model, it matters more whether Honda decides to sell the next 4 Type R models here or shaft America for decades again which is why the ITR is so sought after. Obviously Honda doesn't make its decisions based on the financial repercussions 20 years out for whoever might happen to own the car by then. I don't know why Honda wouldn't sell the next and every future iteration of the Type R here but historically they haven't. Now getting back to the original context, 2 years from now this current Type R will still be on a list with Lamborghinis and 911's. Dealers still want more than 30 for a 2-3 year old golf R (not on aforementioned list), focus RS (not on aforementioned list), Subaru STI (not on aforementioned list). With all this said, it doesn't stand to reason and I just can't see a low mile example Type R taking a 10K hit like that without another Type R model coming out and some competitors in the segment actually competing.

Now getting back to the original context, 2 years from now this current Type R will still be on a list with Lamborghinis and 911's.
I mean...almost every car on that list depreciates. I don't think the value of the Type R in 5 years will have much to do with Nurburgring lap times. I could obviously be wrong about that.

And yeah, it's impressive I guess. But the only Lamborghini and 911 times that the Type R comes close to are from 2010 or earlier...yay

Its really up to you, the buyer, as long as your happy and fine with the purchase then alrighty then. ADM is atleast 5k and maybe 20% or less are getting lucky at msrp. I paid over msrp with no regrets.

I think that when someone states that a car is going to be a classic that it implies that it won't be available for long, that there won't be many of them left in 20 years and that they will be valuable. I think that people are over estimating the future value of what will amount to be a production car. To get back to the thread title I think anyone paying thousands above MSRP are paying too much.

Very true, i should just enjoy that i own a type R lol. And yea I'm including everything down to the final number which would be no about 45k the day i finish paying the car. So not too bad i guess

dang, the dealership I went to had the same mark up. I told them I had an approved loan and would give them 36K for it...and they took the deal.

I paid 42k all said and done. '17 pmm with 7800miles on it. I definitely overpaid..... No buyers remorse though because I would have spent that money anyways and I'm enjoying my ride. And...I'm kinda happy to just have one at all. There were 2 others that came in to buy it while I was there. I guess there's no demand shortage in the Pacific NW
