I haven't tried personally, but I heard you can do it by removing the skid plate.

I just did this over the weekend (not for a 27won), and spent a good hour trying to get it out. Finally resorted to lifting the car to get the skid plate off. If you can get it without lifting it, more power to you.

If you are tackling the intake install yourself, why not just lift the car and do it the easier way?

you will need to remove the skid plate, the bolt holding it on is coming up from the bottom.

2 screws hold the box in way down at the bottom. Lifting even 6 inches makes all the difference. It was a pain with lifted... I would bet against doing it without a small lift.

The screws in question have almost zero clearance. They face the skidplate with maybe a 1 cm gap (or less). Unless you have extremely long and very skinny limbs/fingers, your two choices will be to either break the resonator off, or remove the skidplate.

Will I have easy access to remove the bolts and take off the resonator box from the bottom if I lift the car like I would for changing tires?

Also for the skidplate do i have to remove the whole skidplate or can i just remove the bolts on that side and let it hang half way to have enough clearance to remove the resonator box and take it out?

You can get to what you need if you just remove the access plate as you would for an oil change. It is two Phillips heads and six or eight quarter turns. I tried doing it from up top just to see if I could. I’m not saying you can’t, and I think someone on here said they did, but I couldn’t do it. I thought I could get at it with a 10mm open end, but I couldn’t. The second bolt is just too far back.

After shearing my hand open, I snapped the bottom of the resonator off where it hooks in. Problem solved.
I too had trouble with the bolt that held it in place and in frustration I just yanked the resonator out from the top. Broke the mounting clip for it but who cares as ill never use it again.
