It's a sad state these days that you need to install a Car Cam to make sure that your Dealer really does what they charge you for, and do it correctly. An unnecessary road test by some dealership pylon who can’t drive stick?
That’s almost worse than beating on it.
Yeah, they’d be replacing the clutch at bare minimum and doing a LOT in the way of ass kissing to avoid being sued.
Years back I had a VW that needed periodic valve adjustments as part of the maintenance schedule.
Took it in for service one time and it was obvious that the work didn’t get done because the dust on the cam cover wasn’t even disturbed... not a fingerprint.
Yeah, the tech did the work after hours with me watching over his shoulder the whole time.
(and your "quick oil change" franchises are even worse -- if you can believe it )
I don't think it's so much a case of me getting older and wiser.. I think that almost everywhere you go these days, the people providing services, are getting less and less capable of doing, or caring about doing a good job.
That being said, my car is working great .. everything is working as well (or better) than the day we drove it NEW, off the Dealer's Lot BECAUSE it had never been taken back to the "Dealer". (or a "quick oil franchise").
