An unnecessary road test by some dealership pylon who can’t drive stick?
That’s almost worse than beating on it.
Yeah, they’d be replacing the clutch at bare minimum and doing a LOT in the way of ass kissing to avoid being sued.
Years back I had a VW that needed periodic valve adjustments as part of the maintenance schedule.
Took it in for service one time and it was obvious that the work didn’t get done because the dust on the cam cover wasn’t even disturbed... not a fingerprint.
Yeah, the tech did the work after hours with me watching over his shoulder the whole time.
It's a sad state these days that you need to install a Car Cam to make sure that your Dealer really does what they charge you for, and do it correctly.

(and your "quick oil change" franchises are even worse -- if you can believe it )

I don't think it's so much a case of me getting older and wiser.. I think that almost everywhere you go these days, the people providing services, are getting less and less capable of doing, or caring about doing a good job.

That being said, my car is working great .. everything is working as well (or better) than the day we drove it NEW, off the Dealer's Lot BECAUSE it had never been taken back to the "Dealer". (or a "quick oil franchise").

This happened to you too?? Same dealer or different one?
No not to me, it would be a cold day in hell. My dealer calls me if the car needs to be driven and its only taken out in an industrial park where the dealership is I also receive pics of the odo before and after the test drive. My dealer doesn't screw around with my car because I don't let them. Any time my car has gone in I film the interior exterior and the odo before I hand them the keys so they already know the business and they know my dash cam will catch anything inbetween. I was just saying that I'd be suing them for a new car regardless of what they tried to do to rectify the proble.

Holy shit I was literally cringing watching that video, I felt pain from that and it isnt even my car. I would definitely be mad as hell at a dealer treating my car like that and I would let them know that Im furious. Get the compensation you deserve, the clutch suggestion from another poster is a great idea along with a long and hard inspection of the car overall. Glad you had a dash cam though, crazy what people feel they can get away with. Dont let them off easy!!

Infuriating to watch your video. I thought Honda would treat Type R owners a little better than the average Honda buyer, but we're treated as suckers. Total suckers. These Honda dealers take zero pride in the Type R, they see it as another Civic.

I insisted that I ride a long for any test drives when I brought my car in for service yesterday. From the way they treated the request and kept saying, "We can't keep the tech waiting", I knew they were going to test drive and "Ooops, we tried to get you but you weren't available. They took it out for a test drive, no big deal." Not that it mattered because they refused to do the warranty work anyways.

I was going to get a long term Honda care warranty, but fuck that if all they're going to do is nickel and dime me to death and not honor their warranty.

I cringed at the sound of your car with that person behind the wheel :nono:. Glad when I had my harness recall done the master tech came into the waiting area and told me to do the final inspection and actual test drive myself with him in the vehicle. I insisted that he could do the test drive since the car is driven at the track 95% of the time and abused anyways. He declined and went for a ride along with me to ensure it was up to my standards in which it was. As a fellow Honda enthusiast and track junkie himself he was aware of the paranoia we have of other people driving our cars which was cool and didn’t want to add to my anxiety. Checked my mileage and dash cam before I left the dealer anyways. All I saw was a bunch of ups and downs on the lift and the car pulling in and out from the service area. Definitely get compensated for it or find another dealer you can trust if any.

It seems like the driver was able use the reverse gear fine, but had no idea how to drive it in the forward gears? Makes no sense.

I was cringing when I heard the engine constantly redlining.
I found that strange too. She could back up fine and drove it out all the way too. It seemed she put it into a gear but it wasnt exactly in gear? Whaebwould happen if she got into an accident? What would dealer do in that case?

I am so glad you shared your video. I am definitely going to be putting a dash cam in my R when I get it. The revving angered me and made me question why someone so unqualified to drive the vehicle, did. Correct me if I am wrong but shouldn't techs know how to drive a manual? Did you ever find out who she was?

The dealer would be buying back the car if it were mine. Even though the car would probably be fine, any little future mis-step with the engine would make me concerned it was related to this idiot's driving of it. And then I would be on the hook for it. Nope; not happening. If you get no cooperation from the dealer, I'd send the video to Honda. No cooperation from them, then it goes straight to local news channels. And I'd let Honda know that's what you're doing.

Very true, that goes for any type of service. Including maintenance people, that come over to work on your apartment/house. I had a repair done for a leaky roof years ago in my first apartment, they absolutely trashed the place.

Similar thing happened at an audi dealer a year ago. It was posted on their dealer facebook page and driver was fired immediately.

Sweet Baby Jesus!!! I couldn't even finish after she started pulling into the shared center lane!

If I had a CTR and spent that kind of money (Over 50 grand on the road in Canada), I would be well beyond pissed off.... I would be going to plaid. And ya, I think I would even be so bold as to demand a whole new car after that kind of crap. Or one hell of a FREE extended warranty. (Because really, who wants to say new motor and transmission knowing that this place will be doing the work and just how much has to be removed and reconnected to do it)
