Any chance of sharing your dealer location? I would like to get a pilot myself for that price. Thanks! Type R is hard to daily... Constantly worry about people messing with it.

The type R was never a “long commute without traffic car” nor was it ever a “short commute without traffic car.” It’s a track car.
LOL I'm dying.
The Type R might be great on the track but that doesn't make it a track car. It's just a sports car. Don't let the bolstered seats fool you. It might be the best fwd sports car ever made, but a track car? That's funny.

I honestly don’t see how this is hard to understand or why I would need to make up a story?? I don’t owe you anything but I am just sharing just in case anyone is interested in selling their R. I did not lose my taxes cause they covered the pilots taxes. Also I have been noticing more Rs being traded so I thought I would share so that way no one gets tricked at a dealer with a low offer. Me and my wife are pretty happy with our life and like I stated she didn’t know till I went to the dealer that I was going to trade. Also even though the R is a track car 99% of its owners use it as a daily to go to and from work and when my 20 mile commute takes an hour and 45 minutes then it’s not the right car for the job regardless of how amazing the car is on cornering or on a track.
I was partially kidding to be honest. It just sounds like you bought it for commuting primarily, in which case you made the right move. It isn’t a commuter. I don’t think 99% of CTR owners commute in it, a lot of them have other daily drivers, me included.

Looool do you even own one. Sorry, have you even turned it on or have you only sat in the bolstered seats. You have no clue what you’re talking about. I’ve driven $5k cars and $250k + cars and I know the difference. What have you done, walk to the dealer showroom and kiss ass to the guy with the name tag to open the door and let you sit in a CTR?

And if you do own one, I mean I get it. You don’t know how to track a car, or think tracking a car means finally making your way to track day. You bought it to take your girl to the theater and look cool rolling down the highway and that’s fine. But man, at least accept that you’re rolling in a track car. And if you don’t want to accept it, then I just feel sorry for that CTR.

Yeah, 20 miles in 1:45 is absolutely brutal, and I wouldn't want a Type R (or anything similar) for that either. For 15 years, I had a 28 mile, usually 35-50 minute commute that I did exclusively with manual transmissions, and it was usually fine. But when the traffic jacked it up to 1:30 I wasn't a happy camper, and I would have liked an automatic.

That’s too bad you sold your type r due to your long distance commute. I daily mine each day 88 miles one way to work and I love every moment of it. I can care less what the car depreciates to in the long run because I plan to hold on to mine forever.

I do own one. :) Definitely a fun car. I love driving it. I'll take it to the track when the warranty is up. Seems foolish to do so before that.

I'm not sure what you mean by "accept" that I'm driving a track car. Who wouldn't want to own/drive a track car. I certainly hope to have that opportunity someday.

I'm happy for you that you've had the opportunity to drive expensive cars. Clearly that makes you a car expert ;)

I'm just tired of seeing all the posts about how this car was "born on the track" and/or that it's a "race car." It's not. And that's okay.

What about this car makes it a "track" car?

It’s not the distance that made me sell it, it’s the duration it takes me to drive 20 miles. As I stated before 20 miles in 1 hour and 45 minutes is not enjoyable in a type R.

That you see it between names like this, for $35k relatively at the high end of the fastest Nurburgring lap times. I don’t know if you’re serious about your question or not, but, it boils down to how well it puts the power down in very tight turns. Stiff chassis, great power train and suspension geometry makes it a very fast car in the track.

If you haven’t tracked this car, and you haven’t tracked other cars, and if what you do isn’t track cars, then you’ll never understand. The Type R isn’t a just a fun car, the Si is a fun car. You can’t stretch the CTR’s legs in the streets legally, it’s boring unless you break the law or take it to a track. In my #fg2 Si, or Miata, I can zip the thing all day and not break the law - those are fun cars.

You have no idea what you’re missing out, the CTR will take turns at such high speeds you wouldn’t believe it. But you need to track it to understand.

I'm probably wrong and maybe I'm crazy. Maybe we're talking about different things. To me, a track car is a car designed for the track. No "comfort mode" and extra comfort items. No need for a back seat that adds weight (along with several other things.) Would have a roll cage and other safety items...the list goes on. But maybe I'm just talking about a dedicated track car. And maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.

I'm sure you're right that I won't understand until I get it on a track. It is very fun just on some "normal" curves though and definitely grips better than anything else I've ever owned. Had a great day just cruizing yesterday.

Certainly not with the well known and disappointing heat problems....3-4 laps on a track and it overheats?! That was and is the only disappointing thing about this car to me (I'm fine w/o a volume knob for the audio system :) )....when Honda clearly markets it as a track star. I have had 4 other cars (still have two of them), that I could (can) thrash all day at the track and there are 0 overheating issues, and they don't heavily market them for the track like Honda does the CTR. You know, breaking the FWD record at the 'Ring, and all the tracks around the world the pro drivers have been going to in order to break FWD records...Sure the issue can be resolved in the aftermarket, but that's not really the point to me.

That is a true problem. Honda’s silence on the topic is bullshit.
