They just lost points with me. Web site requires you provide name and email to see their "best price" to INSTANTLY see the pricing. I tried it, and got a message that a sales rep will reply back.

Done.
Ya they’re website blows, you gotta go in and visit to really get a good deal, they had me try website the first day I was there and it didn’t work but I had them put in writing the offer they were giving me

A web site is generally the first thing a customer experiences. Stating an outright LIE on the page about getting "instant" pricing is not a good opener. There's no way I am driving over 250 miles to a dealer in the "hope" of getting a good price.

On top of this, I got a canned email (after the initial email) asking if i could come in for a test drive TODAY. The email arrived at about 10:30 pm.

Oh wow, ya dealer is about 10 mins from my work so I didn’t care for website, definitely would suck to drive 250 miles and not make a deal.

Incredible. Mind sharing a copy of your paperwork (edited for privacy, of course)?
Not sure why I said out the door, meant before the fees haha. To be completely honest, I'm close with the GM of the dealership, and I got a killer deal, and waived several of the fees, but got a good deal regardless.

Don't have an email for it but went in to Mistlin Honda in California and asked to see the one white Si sedan they had in stock, told them if I like it and I like the test drive of it I would buy it that night. Guy laughed at me because he didn't think I knew the car was stick nor that I could drive stick. Got in it and took it for a spin, then walked away and got the same car at another dealership for less money the next day.

If anyone in Ohio is looking for a great deal I got my '18 Civic SI for $22,214 at Great Lakes Honda, salesman Austin said they were having an aggressive selling month, came down from sticker $24,990. Finance guy asked me twice if I wanted any of the 7 package deals they have for interior and exterior and warranty protection, declined all.
Was that 22,214 OTD?

Mall of Georgia Honda, Buford Ga. Salesman’s name was Antoine Haynes.

Had a trip planned to that area, so I contacted the dealer and Antoine called me back. Spoke with him at length about what I wanted and that I could get it at the advertised price. Also got an online estimate on my trade. All looked good, so I headed straight to the dealer when we got into GA.

Got there and was surprised to see $1800 in dealer add-ons. Had never been told about these. And $1800 for a Lo Jack, lug nut locks, trunk tray, splash guards, and nitrogen in the tires was way too much IMO.

Take the car on a 20-25 minute test drive and get back....here’s where the fun begins. They started the waiting game while they were working up the numbers. This should’ve been done while I was on the freaking test drive. After 15 minutes, I told the guy to at least get me a number on my trade or I’m leaving. He comes back with $3700 below the estimate from the website. I laughed and grabbed my keys and headed for the door.

Another manager gets involved and finally offers me what I wanted in my trade. So we get a buyers agreement with a final dollar amount (circled in blue), and I start finding out paperwork. The salesman leaves and comes back with a different buyers agreement that’s $1100 higher!!! When we called him on it, he said it was the same one. My wife pulls out her phone, shows him the picture of the original and says,”I don’t think so.” We start comparing them line by line, and they’ve added $1100 in taxes. First off, my trade was worth more than the Si I was looking at, so no taxes. Secondly, I live in Alabama not Georgia, so I don’t have to pay their taxes.

My wife told the guy that’s it not our fault, they screwed up, and he had 3 minutes to fix it. He ran off and came back and said that they had to charge the taxes. We left.

An hour later, another manager, Fred, calls me and tries to make it right. Offers me their best price...which was higher than the original agreement. I laughed and told him no thanks.

These guys are the kings of bait and switch.

Two days later, I went to Lou Sobh Honda in Cumming, GA, and bought an 18 Si Sedan in Lunar Silver. Was in and out in approximately 2 hrs. Went as smooth as could be.

Sometimes, some dealers just aren't interested in making a sale. I buy a lot of vehicles and I find very little consistency. Some dealers will "give" me a car then the next time they're impossible to deal with and vice-versa.

This can happen for a number of reasons. At different times, different dealers may be closer to their quotas to qualify for bonuses and are willing to break even or even lose money on a few sales at the end of a period for the greater good of the dealership. Other times, a dealer may have had a good sales period and there's little to no incentive offer as big of a discount - why sell a vehicle at a fair price when someone else will eventually come along and overpay!

The whole situation is very dynamic and depends on the dealer, the buyer, market conditions, and factory incentives at the time. For this reason, I don't swear off a particular dealer if they don't accept my offer because next time they may have a better price than anyone else. To me, a vehicle is a commodity - if a dealer is ignorant and rude and their service department is awful, that's fine - as long as they give me a heck of a deal. I can always take it to any Honda/Acura dealer if I need warranty service.

I just bought a 2018 SI coupe in blue for $22,200 + $299.18 (dealer fees, title, etc) + $1,332 (sales tax) = $23,831.15 OTD. I'm in PA and the dealer didn't even have the car on the lot. He said he couldn't get in the $22k range without the car being on his lot so I told him I'd go to one that had it and after a good poker face and waving my credit card in hand for a deposit, he finally caved after some haggling lol. Took almost 1.5 weeks to get the car though. 77 miles on the odometer. Nearly all of it was the drive between dealerships.

Bought the 120k mile / 8 year Honda Care warranty from Hyannis Honda online (as recommended on this forum) for $1,050. My dealer didn't want to match it. There's so many electronics and screens on these new cars that I feel better with the "bumper to bumper" warranty for that many miles.

Loving the car so far and got 40.1 mpg by somewhat babying it during this break-in phase. Incredible. Can't want to drive it hard!
I do not like the clutch on this car. Hopefully it just takes some getting used to and gets better after break-in. Fast shifting seems impossible with the ridiculously long travel and engagement point. My RSX's CC stage 1.5 aftermarket clutch was PERFECT.

The guy said his best OTD price was 26k, then proceeds to add dealer fees, TTL, etc. Apparently OTD means something else to him because they wanted 30k total and were adamant that price is competitive and they don't need to come down to sell the car. I am now sitting at a dealer already on this list (David McDavid Honda in Frisco) and they gave an OTD offer of $25,207. I just sent the other dealer a picture of the offer. I'll post the redacted version in the correct thread here once I take delivery on the car (they have to bring it in from another dealer).
