I sold my Type-R , I had 7895 miles on it when i took it in. I loved the car while i had it but due to recent change in work location (much further commute) I was forced to sell it. I was amazed to sell it for 34k and i bought it at sticker and had it for 9 month. I was not expecting it to hold its value that well but it did and i am glad it did. I just wanted to share with y'all just in case anyone is wondering what they can get for theirs. I got my wife a 2018 Pilot EXL-AWD and they dropped the price from 39800 to 33700 plus tax and fees which is also a great deal.

I'm confused.. you sell a wonderful CTR due to a longer commute (to me, that sounds like more time enjoying the CTR) and your wife gets a new Pilot out of the deal? does not compute ! What do you now drive for your commute (and you better not say Hybrid! lol )

That is an amazing trade in price and amazing purchase price. Holy crap! Pretty smoking deal.

Comforting to know if I decide I want out of my R which unfortunately that though is crossing my mind tonight... hmmm

Not going to lie, I hate this saying. There's a ton of implications around it that mislead people into unhappy situations. I hear actually having honest conversations about things leads to a happier life.

OP, glad things worked out for you and your decisions. Obviously we don't have the whole story (nor are we owed it), so the fact that it all boiled down to something that you're hopefully happy with is all that matters. Good luck!

Well, to answer all your questions I do own a 2017 accord hybrid which is a great car so I took that from my wife to drive to work and gave her the pilot, also I sold the R because my commute is mainly me stuck in traffic so I couldn’t really enjoy the car and also the offer was too good to pass up. Plus they gave me .9 financing so really good deal

never have understood that quote. My wife buys what she wants, when she wants, and I do the same....if there is a case where there could be concerns about acquiring something, we discuss it, and come to an agreement. Compromise...yea, I know, a word that is out of style.

I am very glad the OP got a good return. Right now, it's a good car to have if you need/want to sell it.

I know it might seem like my wife pushed me into doing this but honestly she had no idea and was more upset than I was at the dealership for seeing the type R leave , she still doesn’t want to drive the pilot and is telling me that I shouldn’t have sold it but I couldn’t see my type R stuck in traffic, I would rather have someone else enjoy it on a nice road.

Something still doesn’t add up. The type R was never a “long commute without traffic car” nor was it ever a “short commute without traffic car.” It’s a track car. Selling it because now there’s traffic seems crazy to me.

Selling a CTR because it was a good deal is also crazy, you lost $1.5k + taxes + the taxes on the pilot.

It just sounds to me that wify wanted either a pilot or a divorce. That adds up to me, that gets most dudes to sell their CTR and make up a story online about it.

I honestly don’t see how this is hard to understand or why I would need to make up a story?? I don’t owe you anything but I am just sharing just in case anyone is interested in selling their R. I did not lose my taxes cause they covered the pilots taxes. Also I have been noticing more Rs being traded so I thought I would share so that way no one gets tricked at a dealer with a low offer. Me and my wife are pretty happy with our life and like I stated she didn’t know till I went to the dealer that I was going to trade. Also even though the R is a track car 99% of its owners use it as a daily to go to and from work and when my 20 mile commute takes an hour and 45 minutes then it’s not the right car for the job regardless of how amazing the car is on cornering or on a track.
