I test drove an 18 yesterday and fell in love. I’m ready to trade in my huge SUV to go sporty. I’m in no rush so I may wait to see what the 2019’s have to offer.

Questions I have are:
1. I hear some say they don’t love the touch screen radio on the 18. Is it tricky to use? They’re saying the coupe and sedan will have knobs for 2019 but there was no mention of the hatchback....seems odd to me

2. How does it handle in the snow? I don’t need it to plow through snow...just get me through a 10 minute city drive.

3. Assuming I don’t have to use premium gas and can use regular gas right?

4. Any idea if 2019 will offer different colors?

5. I was surprised with the lack of multiple USB ports in the 2018. Any idea if the 2019 will step up and allow multiple people charge at once? Maybe some ports in the backseat?

If it looks like the 19 isn’t that different from the 18, I’ll jump now and put my order in. I just want to do a little homework first.

TIA

I used to have the 17 Civic Hatchback MT

2. It handles like shit in the snow but I guess if you throw in some decent winter tires you'll live.

I decided to go ahead and jump now before the possibility of increased tariffs. And since the hatch was released a year after the Sedan/Coupe, I expect the refresh to follow suit.

my 2018 sport hatch has 2 usb ports and a 12v plug in for the front seats, I've never been in the back i don't know what's there.

I went with an '18 because while a volume knob would be nice, I only use the steering wheel controls anyway and was concerned about tariffs.

The touch screen interface is unnecessarily cumbersome, but I mostly use Android Auto so aside from initially setting everything up I've spent very little time using the stock interface.

My Sport Touring has at least two USB ports (one in the space under the dash and one in storage area under the arm rest) in addition to a 12V port. I haven't gone looking for more, but that's plenty as far as I'm concerned.

Also with the 2019s on the horizon you might be able to get a good deal on an 18. From the numbers I've seen Civic sales are really down over the last couple of months, so there's a good chance that dealerships will have extra 18s they really want off their hands before the 19s show up.

I had the Sport, get the Si instead and thank me later!

ETA: I also have an 2018 Si Coupe

Obviously no one can say for sure, but the 2019 will most likely not have any significant differences from the 2018 model year, so I wouldn't feel bad about jumping on a 2018 hatch, especially if you get a good deal. As far as snow handling goes, most front wheel drive cars have the weight of the engine over the wheels, meaning that there is more traction for the tires so in short, it will handle just fine in the snow. As far as gas goes you can use regular fuel but premium fuel will get you the extra power. And the front of the car has two USB ports not just one, so theres that.

don't think they're changing anything for 19, you may as well get the 18 now while they try to clear inventory and lower the prices to do so

Im in the UK and was in the same dilema however, our vehicle registration system over here recognises when and what time of year vehicles are registered for example, if you seen 18 in the number plate it was registered between March and August 2018 and if it says 68 it was registered between September 18 and March 19. This querky system provides the savvy buyer with some bargains and I took delivery of my 18 plate 2 weeks ago and saved £5k over a 68 plate registerd now, same car just registerd differently, not sure what saving that would be in US $ or Canadian $. My point is if you can negotiate a deal and get a decent discount go for it now, with minor revisions on the 2019 you may end up paying full price and Honda will more than likely discount 2018 models to move them on.

I decided to pull the trigger on the 2018 sport in Canada. It was basically the last one in the colour i wanted in province i live. I use the steering wheel volume controls almost exclusively and I'm concerned trumpmay decide to ramp up auto tariffs from Europe and honda would stop shipping hatches to north america (including Canadas small market). I was also worried Honda might mess with the exterior.

Great, I drive 100mi/d, in all sorts of horrible NE winters, and never had a problem. Relatively wide body makes it very stable. I pass all sorts of SUV's/Pick up drivers in the snow who can't figure out that the issue in winter driving is not going over a big pile of snow, but stopping, and "mass" x "acceleration" works against them.
