Hiya,

Was hoping to get some help or referrals to another thread on this;

I’ve got a ‘18 Coupe LX-P and want to do a HID conversion, but I have no idea where to start or what to look for when purchasing. I’ve been trying to read up but I think the Coupe is a less common/popular model, and it seems like everyone’s always got a sedan or different trim from me D:

My main concerns/reasons for purchasing are:
Improved performance (brightness/visibility/range)
Improved aesthetic (thinking of 5000-5500K)
Easy/cheap to install, maintain and replace if necessary

Was hoping to get a decent quality setup, but without breaking the bank.

As far as install goes, I’ve purchased:
Clear side marker lights
Morimoto Fogs (Yellow)
Mustang-style (I know, I know, dont hate - I’m into it) DRLs

And was thinking to get it all done in one go (or attempt doing it myself<?> advice on this would also be appreciated lol)

Any thoughts or ideas you might have are appreciated, thank you in advanced!

I've had this on my 8th, 9th and now on my civicx. Many went with popular brand like Morimoto but it'll run you $100+.

Thanks for the tip!
I think pricing for Morimoto isnt too bad - I guess I was really wondering what kind of setup I’d need for my model/trim and what I might expect as far as cost for professional install or difficulty of DIYing it~

Not quite sure what you meant by "setup". All civicx have same bulb size (H11) for low beam. Just purchase a H11 HID kit of your choice. Install is easy. Also, I'm sure there's plenty of YouTube video on How To.

Quick tutorial: connect bulb to ballast, the ballast to headlight harness. Zip tie/secure down the ballast. Done

Note: make sure your polarity (positive to positive, negative to negative), else it won't work.

Thanks for that!

I’m a lighting n00b so I had seen the H11 designation but didnt really understand what it meant before in regard to HID. I figured the LED bulbs were plug & play but always thought that HID needed some more advanced setup (?)

Nah, it's super easy. Watch some YouTube video will help. It really should just take you 15 minutes to install. Get morimoto or hylux ballast.

Thanks man! I was looking at the Morimoto stuff from TRS and then saw the RetroQuick setup and started thinking about that :hmm:

You want a kit with an relay harness so that you are not pulling the full electrical load through the one headlight bulb wire. Relay harness connects to your battery and has large fuses to power your HID's fully every time you turn them on. This also saves bulb and ballast life.

How hard is it to install the relay harness? I just bought a Morimoto elite kit and am curious where everything can be mounted up in our cars.
