i don't compare math with the dash reporting but i have noticed a few times of spirited driving down the hyway has produced excellent milage and cruise at the speed limit bad milage. funny thing is they are the other way around the next week on the same roads.
i am convinced that temp and humidity make more of a difference than moderate driving style differences at hyway speeds.
i know its off topic sorta but i didn't think it warranted its own thread.

I just did a run today with my new 2018 SI up twisty Highway 74 to IDYLLWILD Ca.
I drove it pretty hard up the mountain cruised around the little town, stopped for a bite to eat and drove back down the mountain and about 20 miles through the town of HEMET back home.

I got 38mpg for the whole trip!!!

Amazing as I was driving pretty hard up the mountain and down too!!

This car is a fantastic mix of performance, outstanding mpg and good handling!!
I think HONDA did a excellent job for the price of this car!!!

Usually averaging 40-41 on my commute to work (a lot of 55mph side road driving with some stop and go, but no city/highway), but that includes spirited driving with the Ktuner 19/23psi basemap tune.

I see a lot of people with some pretty high MPG. But I haven't seen anyone mention they're doing the math themselves and checked to see if their speedo is GPS dead nuts on. I know on my other rigs, what the vehicle claims for MPG and my actual MPG measurements are pretty different. I even went as far as using the same pump at the same gas station, and pumping slow at the end so it would/should kick off at full about the same spot. And both other vehicles I have done, the speedos were both dead on. I have yet to take delivery, but I'm wondering if any others have gone that route and still getting these mid to upper 40 MPG readings. Thanks.
I reset trip b every time I fill up. Then take trip b mileage divided by the gallons need to fill up. So I did my own calculation. I got around 36-38 mpg. Work is about 35 miles mostly freeway. I live is SoCal and speed limit is high ( 70mp ). With that speed, fuel efficiency also suffers a bit.

I’m averaging 7.5 litres per 100km. Not sure what that works out for US figures. I have about 7000km on it.
31mpg. I’m averaging 37 in gta, no highway

As of my most recent fillup, over the past year I'd traveled 17,118 miles and used 412.005 gallons of gasoline for an average of 41.55 mpg. My high tank was 45.87 mpg while my low tank was 37.51 mpg. I have no idea how that compares to what the car's computer shows. I'm satisfied with the gas mileage as well as the performance.

I regularly get 37-40 mpg on my commute (30 mi ea way over 2 of what pass for mountains in PA). I use Exxon 93 octane almost exclusively. I do check the math on occasion, and it's usually within 1 mpg of the car readout. I have gotten as much as 47 mpg on a trip. Compared to my 30 mpg on my old Grand Am...it's a keeper...

No need to do it manually anymore the MPG readings on new cars are extremely accurate.
Not sure about this... My odo reads 6950. If I add up all miles from 'history of trip A' ( I don't have any that rolls off yet ), it is around 4670. They aren't closed. So I don't the MPG reading is that accurate.

~26 mpg with 98% in-town driving and mostly short trips. I don't hyper mile and I don't shift at 1400 rpm for fear of lugging the engine. I do try to keep the engine in the power band at most times (~3000 rpm). I was hoping for better than 26.

On the highway I can verify i'm getting high 30's and close to 40 mpg. Not sure why my around town driving fuel efficiency is so bad.

You must be driving it pretty hard only to get 7.5L/100km. I'm averaging 5.5L/100km in over 6000kms of mixed city/highway.

Yall with these high numbers do yall just reset the mpg then drive to work and say "I average 41mpg" leaving out the fact you drove less than 20miles. Some dude said he did 50mpg lol foh man.
