Hello,

Since I can't fast forward using the horizontal bar in the default CarPlay music app, I'm looking for the best third party music library app.

I'm going to have to do the Honda Hack thing and run a 3rd party music app (is there a better or different way to do this?) in Car Play. I just want a different music app loaded in carplay so I can fast forward.

Has anyone done this and do you have any recommendations on what works/looks nicely with carplay?

I use Player Pro with the DSP pack installed Plays FLAC perfectly and the 10 band eq is useful. I had to find the and install the dsp pack apk separately If your library is large you'll need to give it a couple minutes to load up every time you start the car, But being able to scan into a song is so worth the little bit of wait.
I also have my left "left/right" steering wheel button programmed to advance tracks.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but you said you installed Player Pro? Is this an app on the Honda Hack list or did you download the APK seperately? I'm trying to install an app that is not on the Honda Hack list (downloaded from an APK website) and I can't install it. On the button that says "Install" in Honda Hack, the apk I want to install is greyed out with a big question mark logo next to it. Thanks!

I downloaded the apk onto my laptop then transferred onto a flash drive then intstalled it using Honda hack. The dsp pack is a separate apk but installs easy. They're not in the Honda hack app package.

Hey man, sorry for the late reply. I'm actually going to do the Honda Hack and try this out. Quick question though:

Does the Honda Hack mess with the software at all and void my warranty? If they need to do any sort of update at the dealership, software or whatever, will they still be able to do this? Or will it mess them up and have them confused on what to do?

Warranty may be voided if somthing goes wrong with the head unit. It doesn't mess with the factory software, It integrates itself quite well.

I did have to reboot my head unit a few times over the last 6 months or so due to the head unit locking-up. Kinda like a windows computer does when the memory gets overwhelmed. Im thinking it might have been the large 24/192 FLAC audio files i had on the flash drive (yes, they will play with the DSP pack installed). You need to give the head unit a few minuted to load the library then it works well.

Ahh ok gotcha. Can anything else go wrong with the headunit? Or is the only thing that can go wrong is that it might freeze up and not boot?

If something does go wrong, is it possible to factory reset it and clear the Honda hack and everything? If you can do that and bring it in for service will everything look factory to the dealership and will they ever know that you had previously modified it with Honda hack? I’m just wondering because if you just factory reset it before service then they would never know you modified it right? And your warranty would be okay still?
