How is Cam phasing managed by the new civic x platform?

Just curious how the ecu manages cam angles in the civic x platform?

This used to be a user configured setting on k series with single vtc gear, but now it is not.

I feel like this engine doesn’t have much engine braking and an off throttle condition of lots of overlap could be reducing compression and minimizing the effect.

Maybe someone with deeper knowledge of this ecu wants to chime in, would be cool to know.
