I am planning on installing a powered sub in my 2017 hatchback next week.

Here's my plan as follows:
  • Install an 8 gauge amp wiring kit going from the battery, through the grommet near the brake pedal, under the panels on the floor on the drivers side, and into the hatch.
  • Connect the wires from the battery to the P300-10.
  • Tap into the front speakers and accessory with 9-wire at the wiring harness behind the stock head unit using Quick Splice connectors. I'll be using the accessory wire as a remote for the LC2i and the p300-10.
  • Run 9-wire under the panels on floor on the passenger side to an Audio Controls LC2i that will be mounted in the trunk.
  • Run 16 gauge positive, negative, and remote wires from the LC2i to the P300-10.
  • Run ground cables for the sub and LC2i to an as-of-yet unknown location (suggestions?)
I think this is everything I need to accomplish this install and and I plan on updating my progress as I go (hopefully with pictures!). Does anyone have any suggestions for me or is there something I might be missing? Let me know!

Alpine just came out with a bolt in powered sub to go under the pass seat made specific for the Civic.

Anyone have this already? Would love to see a vid. Also wouldn't it feel a bit weird with a sub under the passenger seat while you're driving instead of the trunk or under the back seat?

I have the universal one. Its good enough, bass is gonna rattle everything, but fills in what's lacking. Especially on a hatchback that only came with 4 speakers.

Got this under the driver seat. Cerwin Vega 10 inch powered sub. Awesome bass. Won't shake the car next to you, but fills the low end the Civic lacks.

Kicker has the exact same thing...and it’s a 12 inch and I had one installed like 3 years ago on my 98 Tacoma FYI they work wonderful. No problems I’m looking to getting another for my civic

Hey I want to do this as well, can you take some pics of where you wired the LOC? I've installed headunits and the like before, but there are no videos or pics from people with ex's who did installs that i have found (as of yet)

Has anybody tried this? I'm very interested because I have a leased hatch, but I can't find any reviews anywhere online.

Just finished a similar build.

I used 4 Gauge Wire and an LC7i.

I also bought metra harnesses, and made a T Harness so I'm not splicing into the actual OE wire.

I also installed upper trim sail panels with Tweeter cutout and installed a Morel 6 Maximo Component Speakers upfront.

Amp and sub in the trunk. LC7i in the glovebox, will also move to trunk.

Very clean

I know this is old but how do you hookup the LC2i to the head unit? Cause from my understanding is it takes in L+R channels. Is there an adapter you can buy that helps connect it?

You have to remove the head unit and splice into the front door speakers.

Looking to do pretty much the same thing to a 2017 sedan EX. Do you need an LC2i or can I get a less expensive line out converter?
I'm just thinking the LC2i is overkill for my needs.

How does the P300-10 sound? Is it plenty or do you wish you would have gone with the 12?
I don't know what 9 wire is but I was hoping I could run regular speaker wire + and - from both RCA's up to the front and tap into the front speaker connections behind the stock radio.
