That really sucks. Glad he’s okay. I would never let a ANYteen aged son or daughter get near a CTR, for their safety. They will never drive it responsibly.

Glad to hear your son is ok, this could of been so heartbreaking for your family
but....it's sad to see this car in that state....I am very attached to mine as I was to my SI that was totaled by an idiot texting and fighting with his girlfriend, not paying attention to what was in front of him

That's a shame. I think people with kids should not allow young kids to drive sports cars until they go to racing school and or show good judgement at a race track. Too many times were young ones get hurt along with others.

Know of a similar story where kid 18-19 took dads new Viper ACR during freezing weather and racing slicks with his GF loosing control and his gf passed away in the accident...
First —> Glad the OP’s son is ok.

Second to your reply —> Exactly, my kids will never drive a sports car until they’re able to buy one themselves. I know from my driving record and experiences that most kids that young should not be behind the wheel of a car like this.

Hang on hang on hang on... did I meet your son in the parking lot of Giant about 2 weeks ago or so? Does he daily a grey Si coupe? Guy mentioned his dad had a white one and he had never seen a black one (mine is black).

Damn that sucks! glad your son is ok, were the roads wet or something?
It's Pennsylvania... the roads are almost always wet here now! haha

I didn’t even think about buying it back. I’ve just reported it to the insurance and I’m awaiting the adjuster to call.

The car had 2100 miles on it.
Buy it back it you can - that engine could go into a good shell! :)

Glad to see all the positive outcomes in this thread. Now your kid is going to have a lovely story about killing his dad's car, which is the best outcome from this as he can tell the story. Props to Zooropa82 for leading Superfly in the right direction to get a new one, also.
That's a surprise. When I was looking in the DC area late last year, Hendrick had at least $5k in mandatory, marked up accessories. Could never get them near MSRP.

Glad to see it worked out for the OP. Kid is OK and new CTR on the way. My son is a few years away from driving but there's no way in hell he's ever driving this car.
My son is only 7 years old and he already gets into the driver seat and pretends like he's driving it, now every time he does that this will flash before my eyes. Glad everyone is ok.
My oldest is 7. Once in a while my wife will allude to handing the CTR down to him when he can drive...I'm like umm are you serious? She'll say the same thing about her MDX...I'm like hey, you know this vehicle is a weapon right?
He's currently pretty happy to be getting a Nissan Leaf!

I’ve seen deer on that road so it wouldn’t surprise me to see deer there!

I drive that road weekly or more and almost never see TypeR around here....had I rolled up in this scene I might have just fallen out of the car!!

Definitely buy it back if you can. Swap all kinds of stuff into the Si...

I haven't actively shopped for a CTR so i dont know what area prices are obviously. But all I know is in march when I was was buying, the dealer pointed out a CTR on the showroom floor that he was selling for MSRP and told me it was going to sell within the week. Markups are rediculous on these cars though, dont understand who actually pays these prices.
The bank does. Doubt anyone would be okay overpaying 5-10k over MSRP if they had to drop cash on the table. Leverage comes next as being the root of all evil... especially when used vicariously.

OP, did you end up keeping the plaque?
Unfortunately I was not able to keep it. It was riveted in and the insurance said that I was not permitted to take it.

You did meet him! Buying it back is definitely a thought as I believe the engine is still good. The impact with the tree missed the engine.

Even if you have zero interest in purchasing it that would be pretty cool if you asked about it and posted up the number just for the sake of curiosity. Thank you.

something tells me that kid is going to be driving the Family Truckster for awhile ! $35,595 is the magic number. Glad Superfly is getting one with a quick turnaround at MSRP.
