Nice, it will be good when us base owners can get a free scale to run that race housing. It's not like there's more of us than the SI owners or anything lol... although honestly there might be more SI guys with the race housing...?

**10/4/18 Update**

I apologize for the slow movement on this. Been working through a maintenance shutdown on my job and tomorrow will be my first day off in just over 3-4weeks (12-16hr days). So much for excuses!

Meanwhile, I did drop my car off at a shop yesterday to have a PTP turbo blanket installed and the maf sensor wiring extended. I literally just picked the car up and drove it home about 2 minutes ago. I'll take a pic of the wiring tomorrow but he said he extended it about 10ft or so since I asked him to add more than enough for what I needed.

Tomorrow morning, I have some exhaust work to be done on my RAV4. After that, I'll drive down to a warehouse to see if I can get a decent sized air filter for the new maf sensor placement. If so, I'll make a rough draft of the Myxal SRI-CAI and get some cardboard boxes and aluminum foil to start making my ghetto version 1.0.

Remember, this will be to test the Myxal SRI-CAI against the PRL CAI. Both will be utilizing the PRL Race maf and race maf calibration. I just checked the weather for tomorrow night at the track I'd like to go to (Cecil County Raceway) and the temp will be between 65-61F, which will be great. That's all for now. Need to get crackin' on this tomorrow on my 1st day off. :headbang:

Will the race maf calibration even work for your DIY SRI CAI? Since it was specifically made for the PRL CAI design?

He's going to utilize the PRL MAF housing in his design so it's basically scaled for it. The box design will possibly have some effect but hopefully nothing the ecu can't solve with some small fuel trims.

Only reason I ask is because even the TSP Stage 1 tune for my Race SI exhaust had inconsistent fuel trims that was provided and DRob offered to fix mine to the limit possible and said custom tuning will perfect it. Even Ktuner provides a race maf calibration for SI but is just a starting point.

Yes, I will be using the race maf calibration with my setup. I don't anticipate any issues with the calibration since it's not like I'll be doing my setup on a bend. There may be some turbulence due to the maf sensor being directly attached to an air filter. Will see!

Unfortunately, on my day off yesterday I was called in to work to take care of a few things and did not get off until the warehouse I purchase air filters from closed. So I won't be able to purchase an air filter from them until next Friday. I'll post up what the air filter setup will generally look like today though, utilizing the stock sized PRL maf and an air filter I have for that. Just got to take care of some odds and ends this morning and I'll get started. Will post up pics.

**10/16/18 Update**

End up working a few more days ovetime. Ugghh!

I did have a cardboard contraption rigged up that wrapped around the turbo pipe inlet up through the air filter, then was going to wrap it with aluminum foil but it was WAY overkill and not needed. Anyhow, I stopped by Verocious Motorsports to get the air filter for my larger PRL Race Maf. If you look at the pics I've posted, it is just showing my previous short ram piece and the new short ram piece with the air filter attached to the PRL race maf. Pretty much looks the same. It's exactly what I was looking for.

So, plan is to keep things really simple by wrapping the turbo inlet with aluminum foil up to the air filter. I just need to isolate the air filter and have it draw from the PRL Cobra CAI piece and perhaps the stock air inlet by the bumper as well. I'll get more into this tomorrow and I plan on racing my RAV4 tonight at Atco Raceway. Cecil County Raceway tomorrow with the Civic. Both days temps will be EXCELLENT for testing as well as low air density.

Just another piece to add in the mix while I continue to procrastinate. This is the piece that connects to the PRL CAI cobra piece that goes down to the foglight. Perfect connection! Was going to simply make it go into the cardboard box that will house the air filter but I may add an airhorn inside the box itself that this silicone piece can attach too. Either way, it'll work. I may have a 4" air horn piece somewhere in my garage.

Simple answer is, Yes, it will work. How well? Will see! No different than how the stock maf sensor diameter will work with the PRL CAI vs 27WON vs Injen, etc. Same pros/cons.

My apologies for not updating. The tracks have been closed. I could simply test this 'in Mexico' and post up video results with graphics display of 1/4 mile time, speed, etc (With Torque Pro) but who'd believe me? 1/4 mile track data is usually the most accepted.

So waiting on the tracks to re-open. I have all of the parts. Just haven't made an enclosure for my air filter.

Can you post pics of the intake set up?

Really simple setup. Quickly put it on today and drove around for a bit to get a feel for it. Nothing much to look at. Still need to make a box to wrap around it. Radiator fan blows underneath and around it. PRL Downpipe is not too far from it either but at least the turbo is wrapped. Felt around the filter after getting off highway and it didn't feel hot. I have an old school Ktuner (laptop) so haven't been seeing intake temps to compare to PRL but expect it to be warmer no doubt. Been extremely lazy and should've had this done months ago.

It did feel like I had to give it less throttle for the same power but that's expected so don't trust what I feel. Wanted to test tomorrow night at dragstrip but for the 3rd week in a row, it's forecasted to rain. This is what will sit inside the box though. I'm simply attaching the box to the PRL Cobra CAI pipe that goes down into the foglight area. Easy peezy!

This is to eliminate all the extra piping and bends of the Cobra CAI, which should make some small gains as long as cool air gets to the filter.
