They are talking about LED VS HID headlamps.. They are not talking about putting LED or HID bulbs into a halogen-based headlight. That whole "article" is f***ing garbage and written to confuse its readers.
This is not ment to be confusing to people it is simply to show the major differances in how the light looks down range, brightness levels, coloring and how it looks in the housing. Its only major purpose is those things in mind as i belived it would help people decide what they would prefer not o confuse

The tourings are not bad, just switched from a good PNP HID kit 4500k over to OEM touring headlights. They are the only LED upgrade that is worth upgrading to, in the rain though you can definitely tell how much better the HID temperature was and the distance is not as good. My friend has LED bulbs in the oem projectors though and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it is the worse "upgrade" you can do to your headlights. The only thing you get is the "cool" color.
these bulbs are the led in the projectors and I can say that not all led bulbs you find will be the same. I have had 3 different lights in my projector lights and not every single one was the same. The first one had dead spots and cut less of a distance down the road. the second set was more equaly even with better range but was still not 100% perfect. Both lights cost roughly the same price but as i have figured out it all comes down to the design of the bulb, the quality of the leds *diods* and the quality of the lamp housing and the way its built. my newst high beam bulbs are practicly on the money but this is due to the fact the high beam housing is not a projector lamp but rather a regular old school reflective housing.

I 100% prefer the more cool effects of the led lamps and hope for 5500k white bulbs but they are hard to find. but as the saying goes to each thier own and as many have been saying no lights really can compare to a good quality HID lamp but they are slowly getting there.

What is not meant to be confusing?

The post I quoted, and the site linked with-in, were written to confuse its readers and drive sales of cheap LED bulbs.

They must be very sneaky to call themselves xenonpro only to peddle "cheap LED bulbs" and say that it's the HIDs for a quick, short-term fix on a tight budget, not LEDs:

"Many people are choosing to upgrade to HIDs, but a certain percentage of them will eventually go on to switch to LEDs. While HIDs are brighter and more efficient than halogens, they are prone to failure over time in a way that LEDs simply aren’t. If you are on a tight budget and you are looking for a quick, short-term fix, you may want to consider HIDs. However, don’t be surprised if you end up changing your headlights several times over the next few years, particularly with so many cheap foreign imports currently flooding the aftermarket.

If you want something longer lasting, and more cost efficient over time while delivering substantial improvements in the quality of your road lighting, you may be better off choosing LED headlights for your car."

This gives the 2018 Civic a POOR rating for both halogens and LEDs in Touring. It is clearly visible from the graphs that the LEDs are better though.
Adjusting the aim could improve it, although they claim LED low beams already produce some glare.

Of course, like always, the key question is: compared to what? In the BMW 3 series, the trims without the Lighting package are also POOR and look worse than the civic. With the Lighting package they are ACCEPTABLE. Mercedes Benz C Class has both halogens and LEDs POOR, and they look worse than the civic on the data graphs.

For me the OEM LEDs are very acceptable, especially with auto high beams. Most cars I had were worse.

LED’s will give you that super white or bluish color safely and look super bright to other people but light similar to halogens. HID’s are stupid bright and throw down range. I wanted a more stock answer. I went with Hella halogens that match the factory wattage and yellow fog lights. My drl’s are still whiter but I’m okay with that. All 3 sets were under $80

Ok so I just wanted to threw this out there as I am sure alot of people have thought to change their lights to led's. This is a general bases of what halogen looks like over led. It also shows the down range difference.

I am a strong belieiver of led lights so i have all mine converted and i think it makes the car that much more brighter and cooler at night.
