I’m always amazed at how Si owners think a CTR and an Si modded or not are comparable. They’re not. Ever. The Si is a fun city zipper. The CTR is a track car. Congrats on your purchase.

Si owners would sound so much mature if they just accepted than an Si can’t “beat” a CTR. If you think a car is only about power, keep on modding and watching other cars including CTRs run laps around you.

The driving experience in a CTR also isn’t about “beating” anyone.

If they put that red badge on the outside of the si , usually they think they’re just as good or are driving a type r

I have had my CTR for about 4.5 months, and here are my thoughts--the 3 driving modes are like a tune or intake in my opinion. Comfort mode the throttle is a little sluggish, it is really quiet, and only above about 3000-3500 rpm does it really come alive. This works great on the freeway but at times around town I wish it was more responsive to accelerate especially at lower rpm. Sport mode sharpens up the throttle big time, with little deficit in ride, and then R mode turns it up even more and the intake is loud. I rarely use the R mode in town as the ride then becomes a little harsh on our SoCal pothole strewn roads.

The Duralast pads are actually pretty good.

I have been using them for years. They have a lifetime guarantee on them. I have not looked into the rear as the front pads do most of the work and the rear are more for balance and stability.
Thanks for the tip. I picked these pads up. I saw someone post the rear pad is same shape as other trims, but there is no Max for it only the next level down Duralast Gold ceramic. So I think I’ll keep stock rear like you, less to change if I swap for a track day. The Max has more initial bite than OEM and more consistent feel applying different amounts of pressure so I think they work great as dailies, although my OEM probably weren’t evrn bedded in yet.

I swapped the heavy OEM wheels for Motegi MR924. They’re a great deal at Tire Rack. Sport mode now rides as smoothly as Comfort did before. Perfect fitment. Someone wrote that they were specially commissioned for the Type R within autocross street class limitations.

Wow. They look so much like the oem wheels. Why do they cause the car to ride better?
They are 19x8.5, so 1" smaller, tires are 255/35-19. More sidewall so there's a quite bit more cushion at the same overall diameter.

I kept my oem wheels but switched to 255/30/20 Michelin ps4s tires once i got 11k on my oem tires. The extra cushion did help with the ride comfort.

Or maybe they just prefer the red badge over the chrome?

anyone that says the type r isn't better then the Si either cant afford the ctr or is in denial.
At nearly twice the price, higher gas and maintenance costs, I would hope it’s better than an Si

I can get an Si for 18k brand new? That is some discount, I didn't realize they were selling that poorly.
