Yea, but when you live in an apartment building, you can't do this. Even if you are in a condominium, most have a clause preventing you from doing car maintenance that has chances to create a mess or have a lot of order or create a lot noise. So basically, you can change your tires, wiper blade, windshield liquid, MAYBE wash your car, and such, but that is pretty much it. Yes the big advantages of living in a home... with a garage or place to park the car on your property (and not stuck in parking the car on the street, which city-bylaws or home association, might block you)
I pop my ramps in the trunk and find somewhere where no-one is gonna bother me. Even if you digit in the dead of night, you don't need much light under there.

My dealership doesn’t push one or other. The have prices for both and list it as your option. We get free oil changes for life at my dealership with a small upcharge if you use synthetic.

I have 6 free oil changes and tire rotations. I asked for synthetic and said I would pay for the upgrade and was told they don't have full synthetic. Then he says Honda doesn't recommend it which I knew was BS but I didn't want to argue with the service adviser.

So to me, it sounds like: They don't have full synthetic as the advisor said, and he doesn't want you go somewhere else to service the car as, if you asked for it, then you are interested in getting that, so he/she made that excuse up so that you service it at their place.

Go somewhere else, and of course, once the warranty is up, or up to you, go to a mechanic for further oil changes. Skip these service centers that does oil changes, go to an honest mechanic. Or, as suggested, do it yourself, if you have the space for it.

They may not have synthetic but it's hard to believe considering I just called the Honda dealer service where I bought our Civic. Same owner as the Acura dealer and they have a full synthetic oil choice.

My dealer gave me free oil changes for life, so that's why I will use them...I got bumper to bumper for 60,000 miles and then a full warranty for life after that. I just call, make an appointment before work, grab a loaner car (or they'll drive me to work) and then go grab my car at lunch. No sitting around. And if they eff it up, it's on them...they will do all the oil changes and service. If the vehicle says requires full synthetic, it would behoove the dealership to use said oil. I would be slightly concerned if they push something other than what the manufacturer states.

Is there any oil that can reduce engine noise? I found my 1.5T has loud engine noise.

Wow. That’s the wrong way to treat a client.

I would even go as far as reporting the Service Advisor's name to corporate. If Honda finds out their service people are not advising to use what Honda recommends, that means possible warranty work being paid for by Honda that might not normally need to happen.

I don’t know why people go to the dealership to get there oil changed, most of the time they use the cheapest no name brand oil.
I bring my own oil and filter to the dealer. They charge me $ 17.99 plus $20 to rotate the tires and check and top up all fluids for that price.

In Canada, you ONLY have fully synthetic oil when you service your car.
The car officially support both by Honda. But the blend one is not available in Canada, probably due to winter.
If you go the Honda dealership in Canada, and you REALLY want the blend kind, for some odd reason, then they'll you that they don't have it.

I say, always put fully synthetic. The dealership is wrong, they want you to change your oil more often then needed, so that they make more money on you. Always follow what the Honda manual says and car says. Do not follow dealership "recommendations"
most people i run into go every 3000 or 5000 miles. they are also the same people from the 70s when you NEEDED to do that

Oh yea for sure. But the point is that dealerships spread what is today's false information for most, if not, all people.

I got lucky. When I bought my 18 SI part of the deal was free oil changes for life (3 per year) so that's going to save me about an average of $80 per oil change. That's a deal for both me and the dealer since I only do about 5000 miles per year.
The dealers want to see you back in their shop so they can suck you in for maintenance that might not be required.
