Hey Guys I tried to search to see if this topic was out there but i couldn't find it.
I have a 2017 Honda Civic Sport.

I have upgraded the head unit with an xm unit.
my problem is my shark fin only does am/fm.

I ordered a sport touring shark fin that has the xm antenna in it, and i ordered the wires that goes from it to the radio. However, I still can not get those cables to connect to the xm module. So, Im assuming i have to buy the factory xm module and connect to it then use the wire off amazon to connect to aftermarket xm (which I have).

Is there another way to connect this without buying the factory xm module? b/c that thing is pricey.

Is the Upgrade to the Honda unit with XM, or some other more generic China unit.?

If its not a very similar Honda unit, that has XM built in, the Shark Fin and the XM radio in the new unit is the least of your problems.

So, exactly what is the Make and Model number of your "upgraded" head unit ??

BTW: If you are talking Sirius XM, you don't necessarily need to buy a XM radio. You can STREAM Sirius XM to your phone, and have it BlueToth to your Honda Head Unit .. keeping all the factory Functionality of the original Honda Head Unit .

Also, NEVER pay full price for Sirius XM/ Haggle, and you can get it for about $5 / month

OK, Guess I need to give more detail.

I also use to work for Sirius XM so yeah lol I know you can get cheaper, I currently pay $30+ tax per every 6 months.

I have a 2017 Honda Civic Sport.

I upgraded the head unit from factory to the Kenwood DDX9704S DVD Receiver
and for the xm tuner I added the SiriusXM SXV300V1 Satellite Radio Tuner

I then bought the shark fin for a Sport Touring that has XM antenna in it to replace my factory one. (b/c I do not like this little black thing that the after market one uses) I even bought the extra harness to connect to the shark fin.
i then bought the
iDatalink Maestro ADS-HRN-ANT-SAT1 SAT 1 OEM Farka to Aftermarket Satellite adaptor And I bought an extension cable for XM antenna (just in case)

So now my problem is that the Honda Connectors for XM. Trying to figure out how to connect the tuner to them.

The details help -- but
I still maintain that the XM radio issue should now NOT be your primary concern.
Unless you have all the Original Honda HU functionality working on your Kenwoord , in which case CONGRATULATIONS ;)

So what exactly are you having a problem connecting ?
The SiriusXM SXV300V1 Satellite Radio Tuner is designed to connect to the Kenwood DDX9704S DVD Receive and XM antenna that came with the SXV300V1 plugs into the SXV300V1.

You issue is probably swapping out and connecting the Honda Shark Fin.
If so, I can appreciate your problem IF the Honda Sharkfin has a POWERED XM antenna, and would normally get that power from the Honda HU.

Don't know about the XM antenna part in the sharkfin, but SOMETHING in there is defiantly "powered", so you will need to get power to it from somewhere.

I would go back to Kenwood for some help... its getting way more complicated than it might have first appeared.

Then, even if you get the XM Radio part sorted, you will have the issues of the Kenwood not interfacing with the car as the Honda unit did.

So GOOD LUCK as you go "Down the rabbit hole"with your Honda HU upgrade/downgrade.

BTW: I posted a list of the Honda Radio Part Numbers that all the 2018 Civics use, although it is not 100% clear in that list what Nav or XM radio each Radio Part Number has. -- but that could be determined from each model spec.

Civic sport does not come with xm, however the sport touring does. So i ordered the parts off the touring aka shark fin and harness cables to get power to the fin and to run the correct wires.

I have everything working, xm works etc. I currently have the aftermarket tuner plugged into the head unit which is the way it will stay. the antenna is my only problem im having. I want to get rid of the black square antenna that came with the aftermarket xm tuner. Which is why I was just trying to swap out factory fin with factory fin from higher model that has xm in it. Yes I can get the power to fin as needed. My only problem is trying to figure out how to connect the XM antenna wire so i can plug it into the aftermarket tuner. Guess I'll keep playing with splicing wires etc until I figure it out. Thanks for the assistance.

for anyone that cares the connector type that came with my sirus radio add on to a pioneer head unit is SMC size. these add on receivers are made by sirus, mine uses an active antenna at 3.3vdc power is supplied by the add on module itself via the cable. no special cable required. i didn't want to tear up my head liner to mess with a newer all in one fin antenna so i just got it stuck along side the stock antenna. at least for now.

yea, that's the problem I am running into. I bought the sharkfin made by honda that has the xm receiver built into it. But I cant get it connected to the aftermarket xm tuner. So for now I'm stuck with that ugly black receiver that comes with the xm tuner. Small bonus though, I mounted it on the black part between my mirror and door so not that noticable. but poorer reception.
