Heard many good things about Krown from folks at work. I will be getting this done on my R within the next month or so. $120 full spray, they usually drill holes to get into hard-to-reach places but I believe you can opt out. I won't have any drilling done to my car. It's supposed to last throughout the winter.

i agree with tonloc. no drilling but spray is good.
i also got the dealership anti rust device thingy.(was just curious to see if it actually helps with all the salt up here)

I've never really felt underproofing was necessary.

I live in Saskatchewan. We have the worst winters. Roads are always salted.

I owned a 1998 Acura EL which was basically a dressed up Civic of that era. It didn't have underproofing. In the 10 winters it had been through, it didn't show a sign of needing repair. I still see EL's from that era on the road; if their 20 year old body sheet metal condition (some rust) is any indication of the underneath, the underneaths of these cars are probably in good condition.

This is why I skip out on this stuff.
But good for you for taking care of your CivicX :headbang:. If I may suggest, if you want to do your CivicX's body a big favour, get the 3M film on the hood and side view mirrors.

Krown rust control is great and the one location we use for my shop is very good and cheap for what you get. I chose to use a bed liner type of spray under my car to aid with road noise/drone and salt corrosion.

I hail from SK, they dont use nearly as much salt as they do here in Ontario/quebec. SK is probably the most prepared when it comes to snow -Removal-, in Ontario they choose to salt the ever-loving-F*** out of everything and everybody daily for 6 months out of the year instead of scraping the streets then salting like elsewhere.

TL;DR Rust proofing is great, I bedliner the underside of my hatch:thumbsup:

Not to get off topic too much but curious as to what wheel/tire combo are you planning on using in the winter?

18x8 Fast FC04 with 225/45 General Altimax Arctic 12.

I may spring for the Blizzak WS-80s or Yokohama Ice Guards (had these on my old TSX and they were very good) since there is usually a rebate for them.

I just picked up a set of WS-80s from costco for this year. Downsized to 16s and picked up a set of 8th gen alloys for winter rims.

Nice! How do the 225's fit on an 8" wide wheel? It's the size I want to go with as well but everyone seems to recommend 235/40 for some reason.

I prefer a thicker sidewall since the roads where I do most of my driving - Mississauga and Ottawa - do get pretty bad, hence the 45s. I didn’t buy them yet. But I did look at V33DUB’s setup above and I’m pretty much going to copy that fitment.

Looks good. Thanks for the pics. Have not seen those yet. Looks like I will be going with the same size but probably a different wheel.

Just an FYI, the holes they drill are in inconspicuous locations and are done so they can spray inside the panels and reach places they can't reach otherwise. Since a lot of rusting happens from the inside out, the drilling isn't a bad idea. They plug the holes after, and you can always put enamel/clearcoat on the hole edges to keep them from corroding as well if for some reason they don't. I was hesitant on the whole drilling thing too but for my EX I'ma let em drill when I get it done next week. Just makes more sense to me, especially if you're paying to have undercoatings done as a rust preventative, may as well let em do it how they normally do it, right?

I got my SI rustproofed by the dealership, just like I did with my previous 4 Hondas ... mainly because I've never had any rust issues in the past and I'm hoping not to have any issues this time either. Having said that, I did hear great things about Krown from my coworkers. On the other hand, same coworkers are bashing the electronic rustproofing devices saying they're a waste of money.
