So I got this Arkon flex / gooseneck mount:

Installed it in my center console:

My ProClips iPhone 7 Plus mount is going to be attached to this Arkon:

I was worried there would be alot of shaking because some reviews of the Arkon had mentioned that. Because of the way the gooseneck is routed though and "pinned" against the console by the cup-holder, it's very solid.

The stock screw in the center console was too short (the one I was going to use to mount the Arkon). It's a M5 screw that's 25mm long. I had to go to Home Depot to get a 35mm long M5 screw. Not sure how well the stainless steel screw will hold up with that much force on it so I've ordered a 35mm long M5 titanium screw online.

Hello there! I just purchased my new 2016 EX-t. And this is my mounting solution for my iPhone 6s Plus. I purchased a Sodee silicone horizontal mount, some industrial Velcro and the belkin Mixit 90* lighting cable.
I like that. I think I might try to model something similar and 3D print it. I sure do wish there was an easier way to quickly connect the lightning connector.

I just built my own dock with a few things from amazon and some aluminum. Tucks into the glove box and would work for manual and automatic cars. Shifting my Si was a problem with other solutions for me as it wasn't possible without the phone being in the way. Aluminum made it easy to conform to the inside of the glove box.

I installed the Mophie wireless charger and it works great. It's also in a good location for using navigation from phone while driving (or checking CivicX ;)).

If you don't mind me asking, how are you mounting the phone?

Hello there! I just purchased my new 2016 EX-t. And this is my mounting solution for my iPhone 6s Plus. I purchased a Sodee silicone horizontal mount, some industrial Velcro and the belkin Mixit 90* lighting cable. Total cost of all 3 pieces was about $24. I love that this solution gives me access to all the climate and radio controls. Also the way the mount is designed and set up in the cubby, the iPhone always returns/sits back after any rapid acceleration. No need to push/tilt the iPhone back in the mount.

I loved this solution, I just hope it'll work with my note 8! I'm more interested in a easier way to put the phone in there.

Anyway, I just recently signed up but in my quest to look for a 90-degree angle USB-C cable, I found something 2x better: a 180 degree angle cable!

As I'm new in the forum I'll just post the Amazon ASIN and hope I don't get banned: B07CV7TBR7.

What I'm doing is I'm getting the most similar phone holder I found there and hoping the 180-degree cable will do the trick. Android auto seems very finicky so if I hit just about any cable I lose connection. Heck, I lose connection sometimes going over the train tracks!

Anyway, I would like to thank you for your suggestion while simultaneously sharing something I hope helps others further.

BTW, the cable I bought was this one: B07GRYTRHC. The holder was the B079HFX5P7. I hope to receive it by monday and I'll report how it all fits. Hopefully it makes everything neater!

Follow up: the cable seems to connect not very firmly TBH, but I haven't lost connection yet with it. The phone holder fits exactly in the area below the AC. A Galaxy Note 8 fits there sideways perfectly, the cable connects perfectly and there's space to spare to the sides and top. So far loving it.

Sorry for the delay. Might not be the best solution but is much handier than using just the Lightning cable.

I was going to go with one like this but I can’t find one that will work with my otterbox symmetry case. Any suggestions? It must be a dock. One handed operation for plugging in.

So I quickly found out after getting my new car that the place Honda expects you put your phone is too small for a "Plus" size phone with it's data cable plugged in, so it was flopping around and interfering with the gear selector. This thread was very helpful in finding my solution. Unfortunately I didn't find a stand that worked, but my solution ended up super simple so I wanted to share. I just lay the phone in there with a right-angle charging/data cable. I believe I have found the PERFECT cable:

It comes in both Lighting and USB Type-C so it should work for almost everyone:

Honda Civic 10th gen Installed a iPhone dock 61GiNdRBZJL._SL1000_

Lightning (Apple): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KJJQ5DT/

USB-C (most Android): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KJGFH73/

Here is what I like about it:
  • .5 meters, so the perfect length, long enough to pull out to attach phone, but short enough there is no cable coiled up antywhere.
  • The right angle on both ends (even the USB end is reversible).
  • It has enough sticking out to get around just about any phone case, but not enough to make the phone too wide to fit in the cubby.
  • A light on the end so you can find it easy.
  • Seems sturdy (no disconnects so far).
