I came from from 04 G35 Coupe > 12 GTI > 13 Mitsubishi Evo > BMW X3. I love the Evo but had to get rid of it for the X3 because I got married and had a kid so I wanted something more comfortable. When I first got the type R, the 1st feeling is that it's very similar to Evo except it's much more refined and upscale. So glad to get back to driving stick again.

Came from a tuned, passion red volvo C30 which I still have. FWD, manual, turbo 5 cylinder. Its a little torque monster. When I first started driving the CTR I was a bit dissappointed with the power but have since learned I was driving it wrong. With the 5 cyclinder peak power comes so early. Now when I drive the volvo it feels so rubbery. I never realized how vague the steering was until the CTR, or how rubbery the shifter is.

Had a 2011 Acura TSX previously, automatic trans. Owned that car for 4 years but always missed driving stick.

IMO the TSX is a much better "road trip" car since the suspension is more comfortable, less NVH, and a better stereo. I also like the seats in the TSX better as they featured adjustable lumbar support which the CTR doesn't have. I drive from Toronto to Ottawa and back every 2 weeks, and I find that I usually stop halfway just to have a snack and stretch out a little with the CTR. Sometimes I tend to ache a bit afterwards, and I never felt like that in the TSX.

Performance and handling wise, no contest. The CTR is significantly better in every way. My TSX was the 4-cylinder model and I always felt like it was underpowered (201hp/170tq in a 3400lb car, no bueno lol) and sluggish. I love the CTR power delivery and how it corners like it is on rails. The speed with which I can take corners in this thing is unreal. And the "cool factor" of having a CTR can't be beat either. I think that I enjoy my CTR so much in part because of the manual trans. Nothing beats the old rod-shifted Hondas but this transmission is pretty damn good. No grinds yet.

Personally, I don't mind the trade-off in comfort for the performance of the CTR and the enjoyment of driving manual again. That being said, my previous dailies included a 1985 Corolla GTS and a 1996 Integra GSR, so I am more drawn towards cars with less refinement and more emphasis on car-driver interaction and "rawness"....

curious why you got rid of the M2?
Driving ban for speeding !

I had modded the car lightly with Mperformance exhaust and Fabspeed DP and Wagner intercooler . It sounded insane and was a lot of fun

I looked at the new M2 competition when I was buying this Honda but my dealer could only get me a car in automatic which I did not want .

My daily summer driver has been a 2008 Caliber SRT that was modded to get 340HP at the front wheels. I bought it new and after 178,000 miles it was time to replace it.

It's just unreal! I feel so much more capable and confident on the road now. In my Spark I'd be ready for 4th gear by the end of the intersection. In the CTR I can barely sense I'm going 15 over and then it's like ohhh easy there. And it's the prettiest thing in the world to me it's just so nice looking. I can hardly leave it parked because I just want to be around it all the time. It has an actual sound system and everything feels premium to me compared to what I'm coming from. Can't believe it.

I’m thinking about making the jump to a Type R, never had a honda, never had a FWD car. Just curious what kinds of rides you guys have had previously and how they compare. I’d be coming from a 2014 S6.
I came from a 2007 Corolla to a Civic Hatch EX. I’ve always made sure my wife gets to drive the newer cars and this is the first time in 17 years since I’ve driven a car that is both new and to my liking. Although I’ll always be thankful to Toyota for manufacturing such an economical and easy to work vehicle, I am enjoying my new ride and the benefits that come from driving a Honda.

I had a 2015 BMW M235i. That was a great car. I have a 2017 Touring Sedan. I flashed the ECU with Ktuner dual tune/21 psi. Honestly, I don't miss the BMW. The Civic is now so responsive with the Ktuner flash, it's a pleasure to drive with no turbo lag. I also replaced the OEM Firestone tires with Michelin Premier A/S V rated tires. Car handles very well, no tire squeal and the tires a quieter on the road. Also excellent in the wet. I also like the $ 300 reduction in monthly payment by moving to the Civic. My Civic has had zero issues. A great little car.

I came from a 2014 SI, which I absolutely loved. After it was a total loss, the new SI's just didn't seem at nice as my 2014. The CTR was a no brainer

I'm a Toyota guy, I have been driving Toyotas since the 90's. They last forever. My last car was a 2006 Toyota Camry SE V6. At 130K miles on it, it has never had any mechanical issues since buying it except a leaky power steering hose which I changed this year. My daughter started college and needed a car, so I decided to give her my Camry. I was in the market for a 2018 Camry SE, but saw a Civic Sport hatchback and started doing some research, which led me to the Civic Si. Long story short, in June I picked up a 2018 Civic Si for $22K ($2500 cheaper than the Camry) and love the car, especially the gas mileage. Although it is pretty powerful (only 5 HP less than my v6 Camry), nothing matches the smooth delivery of a V6, but it comes pretty close. I have no regrets buying this car, that is until I hit commuter traffic, because it is a 6 speed MT!

2015 Si. Jumping into the R after a year of hard work felt like a super car. The handling, power, comfort, and style is 10 times better. Being 21 too and not having much experience in car variety, it’s the best car on the planet.

I came from owning many Mustangs over the past 14 or so years. The Type R replaced the sale of my 2013 Boss 302. I would say the cars are very comparable. I am unsure which is best to be honest. Both of course draw a lot of attention. Both handle great around sharp on/off ramps. Both drive about the same and have about the same comforts, but I would say the R edges ahead with more comforts. Both are fast in their own way, but of course the Boss 302 is faster in a straight line and it is very clear and noticeable as well. So all in all a very close tie on ownership enjoyment. Would be hard to decide, but I think the R would win in the fact it is still under full warranty. haha

2005 Scion xB. Cute, custom painted, was in our family since 2006, but not enough power for me. I test drove the 2018 civic hatchback and fell in love. Signed the papers and drove home in a rallye red hatch that I love driving every day!
