yes, those are torque control fasteners...it is designed to break off at a certain torque...however, this type of fasteners really depends on the martial being uniform / homogeneous for the entire batch, otherwise, the strengths might be different, and thus resulting in different break off torque.

Not sure we can really call it a tamper proof clamp. I thought it was a specific clamp design that the head breaks off when it reaches a certain torque. Thought someone mentioned its specific name on here previously.

I misspoke. "tamper-resistant" is what the package says...I bought a couple of them. Actually, the head does not break off, you remove it and it acts like a "key" where you can replace it to tighten or loosen the clamp. it's like anything else, it's just a deterrent....if you want to clamp off, and you can see from various posts in this thread, you can get them off.

ah interesting.....so there are two different types of this clamp for different purposes I guess. i never did understand the "tamper resistant" name of these things...

Good explanation. never thought of them being used for a specific torque..

And the fact that Honda actually used something remotely close to tamper proof on this car but FAILED to put a VOLUME knob in the car is a son of a bitch.

I actually disconnected the air tube on each end, then actually pulled it downward to get the crank case tube to pop out. That was the only difficult part of this install...I was extremely impressed with the fitment of the AFE product....
This is exactly how I removed it as well since I do not own a dremel and I could not get a good enough grip with a vice (kept slipping).

Unfortunately after install I feel like its lost power which is really agravating since I was not planning on doing any more mods that would/could void any of the warranties.

dang, that sucks. So far so good with my aFe...didn't seem to be hard stomping that Mustang GT today :D

As for that clamp, I just sprayed WD-40 on it, then slide that clamp right off.
