Is a Lane Watch Retrofit a possibility?

I’ve learned to appreciate the Lane Watch after I’ve installed a rear facing car seat on the rear passenger seat. The seat back completely obstructs the view through the rear passenger window so I have to rely on the Lane Watch for my blind spot check.

If the Canadian Type R has it, couldn't one simply order and swap in a Canadian R mirror?

Maybe, maybe not. You would have to compare wire schematics side by side with both type R's to see exact parts involved to make it work and then buy said parts to install and hopefully everything plays nice. Sometimes it's software related too.

Turn your head. Even cheaper.

Any updates on this?

I very much like the added safety of the Lane Watch camera.

So much so, that I am wondering if it would be possible to fit a Left hand Drive LEFT lane watch camera/mirror assembly (ie the UK left mirror + Camera), especially if they come already painted !!.

Wiring it in to work with the turn left turn signal would not be that difficult.
The electronics to do it is simple, basically just a relay and maybe a few diodes.
The difficult part is actually installing the additional wiring.

Whether it is worth the effort is debatable, but it would seem to be a technical possibility

I'd much rather have the additional Left Lane Watch camera, that some of these driver assist feature ... not that I have them on the Si in any case.

Does the regular civics have lane watch? If they do, might look for a junkyard to source the parts and try it out.

i know you can retro fit it on cars with aftermarket kits that go right in the OEM spot on the bumpers

Just not sure if you went the OEM route if it would be cost effective and straight forward.. .

One issue in fitting a lane Watch Camera to a Civic that does not have one, might be the Camera Calibration.
After the Camera is installed, it needs to be Calibrated, by using some software program in the Head unit, and a Target card, placed in the correct position that the camera can see.

It is possible for this calibration to get into a state where the camera will not run !!!
I found this out when I was messing in hidden menus, and messed up the calibration.. told it to calibrate without a Target. !!
Luckily, thanks to the Internet, I was able to print the correct Black & White Target, and get the camera aligned and working again.

(1) Non Lane View Models might not have the Calibration software.
(2) This adds an extra complication as far as having an additional LEFT side camera.
It can be wired in, but can it be calibrated ???
