Hi 10th gen Fam!!!
i would like to hear what you think about this or if anybody already did this.....
i have a base model hatch with the double muffler hidden under the rear.....i would like to cut the exhaust right were they split in 2 and only continue the line with one pipe on the right side and add a magnaflow muffler to have a better exhaust note....since stock is pretty boring......
would the car still run fine?
thanks for everybody feedback in advance ;)

Could create an imbalance with back flow through the exhaust system. If I was you, I'd leave well enough alone and stay with stock.

Sounds like a hack and weld quickie job. I wouldnt cut shit... id either replace the whole exhaust or some of it. Im hands on but i would start cutting pipe off a design that spent millions of dollars in research of. Thats why companys sell bolt on replacements. Dont be cheap, spend the extra cash for a real set up.

Get a real exhaust if you want it to sound good.

The stock exhaust runs pretty much the length of the car before y-ing out to 2 mufflers. It isn't going to hurt anything to eliminate one of the mufflers. The Invidia N1 system for the sedan does this exact thing.

its a 4 cylinder. its never going to sound like a Vette no matter how many upgrades you smack on its tailpipe. At best it will sound like a lawnmower, at worst, it will sound like a lawnmower.

you haven't even done 30 seconds of googling... a hatch is a hatch they all fit the same whether it is base, sport or type r. And there are quite a few exhausts out there...
I do not believe this is correct, pretty sure the sport and type r may be compatible to switch exhaust but I don’t believe one’s made for those would fit on an lx or ex hatch

 It doesn't have to sound like a V8 to sound good. There are countless 4 cylinder vehicles that sound fantastic. For one example the Alfa Romeo 4C uses a 1.7 liter 4 cylinder and it sounds amazing.

I will never understand why people who don't like exhaust sound feel this need to tell people who do that they shouldn't.

Edit: Here are some examples of 10th Gen Si exhausts- lawnmower/fartcan nowhere to be found.

What you're really asking for is a high revving VTEC engine note then... the current turbo 4s just can't do sounds so good.

Sport and CTR are not compatible, different motor, different exhaust.

My feedback is this ...

Are you doing this because you can't afford a decent exhaust?

If so, don't.

Budget things don't generally work out for people that don't have a lot of experience doing them.

Are you doing this because you can't find anything you like and you're looking to try something new?

If so, then go for it.

In this situation, I assume you have the money to fix your mistake if you don't like it.

HE asked for our opinion. That's the reason I told him my opinion. I quote "i would like to hear what you think about this". Hence, what I think about this is, it will sound like a lawnmower.
