You’re still not completely getting our point. Either way, if you don’t need a swap yourself there’s no need to bash someone and say they’re wasting their money and then LMAO about it. If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything. You’ve already made your point multiple times in earlier posts that you don’t like the swap idea. Auto is not a one all fix all for climate. If it works for you, wonderful. But not everyone else shares the same sentiment.

And here’s a good read.

It is possible. If I want cold air and not rushing at me...I leave it on auto. Take for instance, I'll leave it on auto at about 70 degrees...I get cool air and it's not in my face.

But whatever, to each their own. I don't need a swap, lol

So I bought one of these on eBay and installed it today.

Works great -EXCEPT - when I adjust the temp it only adjusts the driver's side - NOT the passenger. The passenger is stuck at 69 deg (which is what it was before I disconnected the old one). I knew going in I would lose the dual zone, but my understanding is both would move at the same time on the new unit.

I thought maybe my old one may have just been out of sync before unhooking it, so I put it back in, sync'ed them up, and put the other one back in. Nada - same problem.

The part # I have is 79600TBAA112M1. Anyone else have this issue? Can someone else confirm the "M1" at the end of the part #?

EDIT - figured it out, Ill leave this post in case someone has a big a brain fart as me. I didn't have the SYNC button pressed on the original climate control before disconnecting. So even though the temps were the same - the SYNC mode wasn't on. Put the original back in, hit SYNC, put new one in - boom!

Good to know. I wonder what happens when the battery is disconnected and if it'll lose its memory. You may want to try that before you get rid of the old unit lol.

I had the battery disconnecting while installing, so I "should" be good. :D

I am so excited about this, as the factory setup is the only thing I truly hate about this car! Ordered today.

Can not wait to be shot of that horrible, slow touch screen for climate and “auto” control with temp knob that never does exactly what I want it to.

As a bonus, it will increase compressor life, slightly improve fuel economy, and reduce distracted driving. Goodbye overwrought garbage.

I absolutely HATED THIS when I got my 19' Type R too....you will absolutely love this!! Fixed the worst thing about the car! Tip : Just make sure that you have the original controls set up to sync the temperature before you remove them so that you will have the new control adjust the temperature properly on both sides of the car.

Why is this mod needed for the 19 CTR.....?

I have no issues with the climate control.... or am I missing something..

Also this is a CTR thread so this applies to CTRs only. We have no heated seats so yes... if you do this mod you lose those functions on your non CTR.

I'm going to do this because this is the first car I have that doesn't have an AC button and it is horrible without one.

Why..... Once you turn the AC on it is on... No need to keep turning it on...... Or am I wrong about that and that is why the AC seems weak????

Installed in literally less than two minutes. Loving it! Easily best $59 ever spent on a car for me.

Copy pasta from what I put on Facebook FK8 group:

Why install this?
-Much more precision control than the climate control only without forced to use the touch screen (full climate control still works minus dual zone on this in a contained unit).
-Can’t use touch screen climate control when in reverse.
-Touch screen is maddeningly slow and laggy.
-Touch screen climate takes away display and control of Waze and Spotify for a few seconds. I navigate with Waze a lot in my job and don’t want to miss a turn.
-Fan control on a knob reduces driving distraction.
-Honda A/Cs suck and fail a lot. I can put this on 58 degrees and toggle A/C on off with a button touch without stopping the fan. Longer compressor life, greater fuel efficiency.

That’s just some of the benefits off the top of my head.

No, I want to turn it off without shutting off the fans. I only run the A/C about 50% of the time if its less than 85 degrees outside. The compressor always cycles on/off when it's on, no matter how high you have the climate control temp set. For longer compressor life (and we know Honda fails here), leave it on 58 degrees, and drop the A/C button off with a click until you need it again a few minutes later. Saves gas as well. Having to queue up the screen to do it every time and look at it is a PITA.
