Only issue I have on the list is heat soak. I track the car and that's the only time I run into heat issues. Been making changes to address it and just finished 2 day track event where ambient was 99F both days. Swirl marks I did myself, but ended up polishing and doing ceramic coating to resolve. The car has bee solid and so much fun. Best of luck to all with issues.

When shifting from 5th-4th (a downshift) shifter feels like it hits a brick wall.. I will add I changed the tranny fluid again about 4-5 days ago an haven’t had one issue.. I am starting to get happy about this Honda lol... I can say one thing I haven’t had the factory trans fluid tested but it is not an I would put money on it the same as the oem Honda we get here in the US. It doesn’t smell the same or look the same as the oem Honda mtl. In 1000 miles when its not in contact with fuel like motor oil it should if its the same as the oem Honda mtl we get here in US smell similar an look similar. It’s was very dark an smelt very different than US oem Honda mtl. I have had no lockout no grind in about a week an all the factory stuff is out because I have changed it twice wanted all that junk factory fill trans oil out of it. So it has been a lot better had a little brass filings in the pan I used but nothing not normal from a break in.... I still have the factory trans oil in clean bottles an plane to send it away an have it tested. To everyone who is having issues try changing it a few times get whatever there putting in it from the factory out... it is like night an day better since second change

Let clarify the heat soak issue... heat soak doesn’t necessary mean your car is overheating the intercooler on this car heat soaks really bad it’s just isn’t a good design it’s not that it needs to be that much bigger it’s just cheap with the plastic end tanks an this engine car put off some heat I will guarantee if u drive a stock type r with the right 91-93 octane fuel in it whatever everyone gets in there state pa we get 93 that isn’t even 93 octane... an u sit in an a 80-85 degree day an wit an idle your type r for more than 3-4 mins then pull out with it.... this is not good to do to a turbo car either when the intercooler is heat soaked like this an punch the gas to the floor an run it through the gears you’ll be lucky if u hit 19 psi of boost an anyone that says they can pull more boost after the car has been siting idling is lying... the car just pulls boost back when idling in traffic like no other it’s not a big deal after a little bit like maybe a mile or 2 when your up to speed it ok but it just really makes the car feel sluggish to me that’s all but that’s the heat soak I am talking about. The guys that track them an boil the coolant is because of the headifold an Honda running water jackets in the head an bolting a cherry red turbo right up to the head... when the cars at full song an dance going around a track what do you think your coolants going to do... I am harsh on this car everyone on here knows it... it needs some help in some areas on this car... but can those be worked out yes but then you have a modded type r some people don’t want that... my point is for people who want there cars stock an people having problems it’s frustrating because maybe we all don’t want a boogered up type r with a ton of aftermarket parts on it an when your having issues on the car stock an u know the only way to fix it if u want to enjoy it is aftermarket parts it gets a little aggravating because cars today should be good right out of the box enough that the thing don’t need this rad or this intercooler this engine mount u guys get my point...

Sadly. almost 50% had the grinding issue, and for those who voted No just might not hot that point yet, given low mileage. @turboshawn how is it doing after ur 2nd tranny fluid change? N have u replaced the slave cylinder yet? Thanks for sharing

Sorry can I clarify what you mean by lockout issues ?
When someone is trying to shift to a particular gear and it won't engage. It seems to happen the most when shifting to 4th, especially when downshifting to fourth from fifth.

Probably the last time I post on here so let’s get some shit straight. This car is a civic ok 35k is a lot for a civic idc type r or not an u bet your ass I expect better a lot better from Honda this car is a gear grinding piece of shit... soft motor mount hunk of junk like they put in a lot of American cars... this car has a plethora of other dumb issues Honda just didn’t care they made a very good handling car with a body kit an alot of dumb asses on here couldn’t wipe the drool off your faces running to the dealerships with your tongues hanging out an some couldnt wait to shell 40-50k out lmao for a civic hahaha. I am pissed an will continue to be pissed til this way over hyped garbage is out of my garage. I paid 35 for this turd an it’s a piece of shit plain an simple... even around a lot of cars an driven enough to know this thing is not very good at all... theres car u guys got on here cutting openings in the hood talking about ducting the whole engine bay do u guys hear yourselfs really... u would actually back a car that u have to do all that shit to your nuts. Oh it’s just a hurdle lol pretty big hurdle when u got people saying I have done this this this an then some ohhhh.... but it still over heats!!! Very disappointed in Honda is an understatement. Idc about who isn’t having problems good for you... your either in denial or don’t want to admit Honda laid an egg with this one an they did... there’s enough of us that are having issues to sit an say oh maybe u cant drive lol or have you tried swapping this part... I shouldn’t have to swap a part on a Honda that I paid 35k for to get it to shift right let’s get that straight... this car don’t even sound like a Honda thank the epa guys cause this is where it’s headed an no it still grind dealer is buying it tomorrow they asked if I wanted another I said he’ll no an I don’t want any other Honda til they get there shit together which may never happen again... I had very high hopes for this car an they miss the mark big time

Indeed, some of these votes could be skewed. I have 4k miles and I have had the 2nd gear grinding only 3 times, and they were all in the first 1000 miles. Not sure if I am past it or not, but it has been a very rare occurrence in my case.

I wish It was like that for me. I still get a fair amount of 2nd gear grinds. I get a hell of a lot of 4th gear lockouts though.
I almost have 12k miles on my car.

Sorry to hear that - have you changed the tranny fluid yet? Also, have you tried the CDV removal too?
