3k in and I'm absolutely loving my Si, the only gripe I really have so far is the paint on these cars. I've picked up 9 paint nicks and chips in a month, 2 of which have gotten down into the primer. Guess I'm going to stop at the dealer and grab a couple tubes of touch up paint. Definitely going to have to plastidip if I want to preserve the factory paint for more than a year.

You can get pre-cut sheets of 3M paint protection film if you feel comfy enough to apply to your car. Or find a reputable shop that can. But yeah, I barely drive on the highway and I've got some good chips as well. I'm a detailer and noticed as careful as I am during washing, the paint still mars easily. I have a red Si.

I got chips on my hood too.
And I'm looking for a beater for the winter and park my car cause that rock salt is no joke plus we have that skid plate under the car and i DON'T want any salt to get under there cause it will be hard to wash underneath. I'm dreading this winter coming in NY.

Don’t drive behind construction vehicles, cement trucks, dump trucks, landscaping vehicles, etc. etc. avoid being behind them as much as possible. I ride motorcycles a lot, and there are a ton of small hard particles flying off these trucks all the time, it’s terrible. This is what’s destroying your vehicles paint.

Sure in an ideal world. Drive on the highways and byways of congested Central Maryland and avoiding all of that is near impossible. I've owned a lot of cars over the years and the Civic has more chips on it in a year and a half than any car I've owned. Honda clearly skimped on paint.

This is the exact reason I dipped my car. When I peeled my car there was almost no scratches in the paint. Just a few on the hood from a few really bad rocks. I actually sprayed the hood even thicker this time around to protect it a bit more.

If you love your OEM color, the 3M shields are a really good thing. Much harder to install yourself, unless you have experience with vinyl. I've thought about trying Autoflex SprayShield, but I've come to really enjoy these crazy plastidip colors.

The paint quality is commensurate with the price point of the car and t is no more thinner than its competitors. It is not going to have S-Class Mercedes level of paint. Clear bra is a must!

Honestly just take care of it and it'll be fine. My Si is 4 years old and the paint is damn near perfect. I have never taken it thru an automatic car wash, always use the two bucket method for deep cleans and ONR for light dust. Car gets washed once a week and I use spray wax after every single wash - hand buffed graphene liquid wax once a month. No scratches, no swirls - just a couple tiny rock chips on the hood.
