Hello all!

I recently had ppf installed. I got the full hood, full front bumper, partial fenders, sideview mirrors, door edges, and the door cups done.

I'm just getting into learning how to detail cars. So I am very nervous about how to care for the car since it has ppf now. I'm especially nervous about the film edges on the partial fender film lines and the door edges.

The installer said not to use a wax paste, and to use a spray wax instead. But that's about it, he was kind of in a rush since the store was closing up, so I didn't get to ask in more detail how to care for the car.

I was just wondering what all of yours routines were, when washing you car with ppf installed. Any tips or routines would greatly be appreciated! Thanks again!

I use liquid, paste, spray waxes on my PPF and it's fine after almost 2 years. I probably have about 20 coats of some form of protection on the car since new. 24,000 miles.
Nice! Thanks man. Do you happen tape of the film edges to make sure you don't get wax on the edges?

If you use a wipe on wipe off type of wax/sealant, you will not have to worry about that. If you use a wax that requires it to be wiped off, as long as you wipe it off in a reasonable amount of time, it will not be a problem. I can imagine it could be a problem if the PPF wasn't applied correctly on the edges and wax somehow manages to get underneath. But then it'd be on the PPF installer to fix that.

I have my entire car wrapped in PPF. These are the best I have found that are the least abrasive to the PPF.

Spray Wax - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007KTIO02/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Car Wash Soap - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007XQ3CE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Xpel PPF Sealant - from what I have read, this is supposed to be applied every 6 months or so.
