I called Honda today and they indicated that there was no way to track a stolen vehicle. At least not the 2017 Civic SI. The radio has GPS and the Satellite Radio should be able to track. I am not accepting no for an answer. I didn't have the HondaLink dialed in to my phone. Is there any other way to track my car that anyone can think of? Doesn't really seem like the cops are doing much. Might go into business stealing cars, seems like a safe occupation in my town anyhow, lol. Surely it isn't that hopeless. They weren't very interested in looking at the suspect I provided them and asked them if they ever collaborated with the manufactureer in order to track the stolen cars. They said they don't do that.

Assuming you have full coverage, why do you care? Hopefully it doesn't turn up, you get a check, and buy something else.

BTW, all of those tracking devices (lo-jack, etc) can be circumvented with jamming devices, etc.

WOW that sucks.... Had a Integra stolen yeeeears ago. I can see the OP caring if he has expensive parts on the car. Insurance won't cover that, and would be a bad idea just asking to cover modified parts.

Cops can care less for stolen vehicles. No one is in danger..... Put it this way, setting up speed traps are significantly higher on the list.. Sucks, if you got parts on it, hope you find it, if not don't stress. GL

If its not a generic/bone stock SI, post pictures.

You can't track GPS and satellite radio - the car knows its location but it can't transmit it back. GPS and SiriusXM are one way transmissions - there's no uplink channel. Cars that have a cellular based system can use its GPS to relay back its location, but there's no such thing in the Civic. You need a system like Onstar to be able to track the car.

Hate to say it but your car is likely already all chopped up into parts and gone forever.

Hate to say it but you really need to be more optimistic. I never stopped trying. Went for a 5 mile run looking through parking lots and had my mom drive me around for a couple hours today. Police found my car tonight in one piece, unfortunately I don't have a key but I'll deal with that tomorrow.

Everyone told me my car is gone forever in a chop shop or something. I live in Boise, ID. Honda Civic this new doesn't have much demand for parts. Too beautiful of a car to destroy. Thanks so much to the BPD, almost gave them all a hug i was so happy. Now I feel obligated to drive the speed limit, lol. I never gave up hope. i would encourage you to give the advice that someone will likely find their car abandoned in a parking lot or neighborhood versus chop shop. Thank you Jesus! Don't take that personal bro. Everyfuckingbody told me that and I just wasn't hearing it.

While I'm very happy for you that you found your car, he wasn't being pessimistic. He was stating facts: Our cars can receive signals and location-based data but it can't transmit them. You need a system like OnStar to be able to provide real-time location data, or any other car that has 4G connectivity (assume those are two-way). Hondas are always near the top of the list of stolen cars, so the poster's assumption that your car was sent to a chop shop (the sum of the parts of newer cars are worth far more than the car as a whole) was a safe assumption.

Thankfully, in your case, your car was recovered intact. I believe that's the exception rather than the norm, so I'm really glad to hear that.

You can sell pretty much everything on that car pretty easily right now, but doing it illegally from a stolen vehicle would prob get you caught so you're lucky it was found in one piece. One thing I'm not understanding though, why don't you have a key? Did you leave it running and someone jumped in and took off?

Just letting you know that I've been in the industry for many years, and the odds of recovery are very good most of the time. Most cars do not get chopped up like they did in the 80s/90s, especially new cars.

So if I'm reading this right, OP left his keys in the car or the keys were stolen from him and that's how the car was stolen?

That screams joyride and not necessarily pro thieves looking to chop your shit.

Sounds like it. Outside of towing, pretty much impossible to steal these cars.

You are very lucky! But sometimes it is better to just let the car go and get money from insurance, in my experience of friends and family the stolen cars recovered were in really terrible shape, almost worthless.
