Hi guys,

Basically, my question is how do i mod it to get the HP and the control of a Civic SI?

I know i can get easily
- Hondata and flash the ECU
- Tires + Rubber to 235/40R18 91W
- Larger brakes

Will these upgrades above help?

I am not sure if the Active dampers suspensions and Limited-slip differential is gonna be a easy or cheap upgrade

Below is the full list of difference from Wikipedia on current Civic SI (i removed the items that are not performance and control related)
  • engine output increased to 205 HP @ 5,700 RPM (SAE net) and 192 lb-ft torque @ 2,100-5,000 RPM (SAE net)
  • higher maximum boost pressure (20.3 vs. 16.5 PSI)
  • lower compression ratio (10.3:1 vs. 10.6:1)
  • higher-capacity MHI TD025 turbocharger (9-vane vs. 11-vane)
  • helical limited-slip differential
  • larger front brake rotors (12.3" vs. 11.1" vented front and 11.1" vs. 10.2" solid rear)
  • two-mode damper system with normal and firm settings
  • SPORT mode replaces ECON mode - increases suspension damping, reduces power steering assist, increases throttle sensitivity, and raises the activation threshold of the Vehicle Stability Assist system
  • 235/40R18 91W tires vs. 215/50R17 91H
  • 7% stiffer front spring rate
  • 18% stiffer front upper damper mounts
  • 7% stiffer front stabilizer bar rate
  • 32% stiffer rear spring rate
  • Solid vs. fluid-filled front and rear compliance bushings (rear shared with the Type R)
  • High-stiffness rear upper control arms (shared with the Type R)
  • 26% stiffer rear stabilizer bar rate
  • center-mounted polygonal exhaust outlet
  • higher-flowing intake system
  • 23% higher-flowing exhaust system
  • 10% shorter shifter throw
  • revised shift linkage
  • increased rigidity of shifter bracket mount
  • additional items in Driver Information Display including G-force meter, turbo boost gauge with PSI indication, lap timer, throttle percentage, and brake pressure

Trade in for an SI. the difference in price will be cheaper then the modifications you're talking about.

The SI is not available in Thailand or even Asia i believe, importing will cost me too much because of the import tax laws here :(

In that case yah, go for the:
- Hondata and flash the ECU
- Tires + Rubber to 235/40R18 91W
- Larger brakes

Intake, downpipe, and intercooler will help alot as well. Definitly get a clutch upgrade as well. Coilovers or a spring replacment will give you the increased handling as well.

Tune and tires (Michelin PSS) alone will put you on par or ahead of an Si. The list above is pretty comprehensive for the differences with the Si... the biggest thing the Si has is the Limited Slip diff.

For everyday use, Tune and Tires with a driver mod will even the playing field. I have put my car on the track, tune only and I'm actually a few tenths quicker with a few more mph over my friends stock 2018 Si (14.28 vs his 14.55 with Injen intake). I did do an HPDE event where his Si kinda shines, although I think tossing my stock tires in place of Pilot Super Sports, and some used Si springs and rear sway bar and I would be quicker on a time attack than a stock Si.

It really doesn't make any sense these days to get aftermarket products. Some of them actually just reduce your car's performance. If you want a sportier car then just get the actual sports trim. I remember the 90s when Honda sold Civics as an ordinary daily driver, there were no options but to go with aftermarket parts. Today there is an SI and Type R loaded with all the performance right out the door.
El oh el:lol:

I wanted a hatchback, but the Si is only available in sedan or coupe. R is not available for test drives before buying, and am guessing too agressive for daily use. So I bought the Sport Hatchback.

Are you high?
Legit question.
To your point, some aftermarket parts will suffer performance. That's why a smart tuner does research. Let me make my point. A type R costs 33k new. I got my Si for 24k. Intake, intercooler and tune with E85 put me in the 280hp range for about 2k (install and tune myself) and if my memory serves me right the Type R stock makes 303hp. So now I'm at a total of 26k into the car. PRL downpipe and front pipe on the way, looking at the clutch and flywheel, stainless clutch line and hasport rmm right now and 27 won turbo on the way, total damage, 3250ish, and when I throw it all on there what's gonna happen? I'll blow right past a type R for about 3k less. Stupid argument you're trying to make

lol and for less than $800 the Type R can get Ktuner and pick up~ 50whp and ~65wtq and still not push the limits of the map sensor and all this on their provided Stage 1 Basemap. Another thing to note is all the best 10th Gen Civic Tuners dyno'd baseline a stock type R and got 285hp on 4th gear pulls and on 3rd can roughly pick up 10-12hp

to add to the Type R vs Si. aftermarket for the R right now is $$$
I decided against the R because I didn't want a hatch.

Old comment I know...but actually, the R has been praised for being way more than daily-able than people think. Pull up any car tuber review and they all agree
