Just curious, is jacking the car up and going underneath to remove the panel necessary? I have the tools, but not a jack.
you gonna need a jack or ramps. you miiighhtttt be able to do it without but it would be such a pain in the ass. I used ramps and it was still a pain in the ass.

Thanks for the reply! I'll figure something out, I had planned on installing it today but it's too damn hot anyway and not having the ramps doesnt help. But if it's a pain with them then I dont wanna imagine it without them.

Thanks for the reply! I'll figure something out, I had planned on installing it today but it's too damn hot anyway and not having the ramps doesnt help. But if it's a pain with them then I dont wanna imagine it without them.
You could install it without lifting the car up but would be trickier because of one bracket that is easier to get to from the bottom. Be sure to download our mobile instructions for the easiest install.

You could install it without lifting the car up but would be trickier because of one bracket that is easier to get to from the bottom. Be sure to download our mobile instructions for the easiest install.
I definitely already downloaded! And looking at them made me ask the question, it seemed it was only to get the old air box out and I've seen people do it without getting under the car. But if going under makes it easier then that's the path I want, I just want an easy install, or somewhat easier install I should say just in case.

I definitely already downloaded! And looking at them made me ask the question, it seemed it was only to get the old air box out and I've seen people do it without getting under the car. But if going under makes it easier then that's the path I want, I just want an easy install, or somewhat easier install I should say just in case.
Getting the stock lower box out really is the hardest part IMO the rest was cake. I personally have no idea how people got it out from the top... but more power to them haha.

So I finally got around to installing my intake today, I wasnt going too but I accidentally dropped one of my cable bushings while installing the acuity ones and couldn't get to it without dropping the skid plate or taking most of the air box out.

First off I didn't jack the car up, the 2 bottom bolts weren't that bad to get too. Well the one towards the front of the car was I should say, but the other was pretty easy. I cracked part of the stock box getting to the second bolt, it's still reusable if need be and my wife's tiny hands helped get the bolt free. The only thing that gave me an issue was actually fitting the damn tube and MAF housing onto the intake box and stock pipe, for whatever reason it didn't want to go on without some force and bending of the tube. That and i would of preferred regular clamps personally over the t bolts, they seem like overkill and were kind of pissing me off towards the end of the install, not really an issue I guess as just a preference. But as far as what others have said I didn't have an issue getting the stock parts out at all, the intake box went right in, and the lid for the intake lined up perfectly. I also didn't have an issue with the filter popping off either, I'm not sure if they listened to people but mine came shipped super tight already clamped into the box so I just left it instead of messing with it.

All and all I'm happy, sounds good, wish it was a little louder but I knew what I was getting into when I bought it so i cant complain either way. I cant wait to actually hit the highway with it, I only did a short drive just to clear the lights. Thanks 27won and everyone here for the help and reviews!

I thought I would also chime in on this. I have a 2017 Civic Hatchback Sport Touring. The install was really a big PITA. I saw the video and looked at the instructions and it looked pretty simple. However, we all know theory does not always work perfectly in reality.

1). I had the same issue with the airbox. I ended up first take off the plastic part cover when you first open the hood and also remove the short bracket. Even then putting in the airbox was pretty difficult. With the little clearance it was tough trying to thread the bolts in. As for torquing the bolts, I also had to guess.

2). The fasteners just as you mentioned on the turbo side, had to put the car on the lift and tighten from underneath.

3). Initially when installed the lid/box holes were way off. Had to put some serious force to line them up. *

4). The way the instructions are, the intake seriously rubs against the trans and one of the sensor plugs.


So my suggestion is this. For the Sport Touring ( not sure about other models ), I would slightly redesign the plastic intake to have a small indentation to give about 1 inch of space. Basically about a 2 inch by 2inch square with maybe 1 inch indentation where the sensor plug is so that there is no rub. Also, to further help, you can slightly bring up the intake box and mount it slightly higher by slightly flattening it short bracket so it has a more flat angle.

I'm not sure how many people actually tested and looked at it but I did. Changing from D, R, N, P, you see the trans move a bit and each time it moves, it rubs up against the plastic intake. Enough of the rubbing is going to strip that sensor plug and its wires. It is only a matter of time.

I was pretty pumped up about buying the product and it came very well packaged. I emailed support to ensure there were no issues before purchasing it. (Response from my question ""Yes this air intake will fit on your car. It is a tighter fit with a CVT versus a manual transmission but the unit will still work and show great results.")

It is not merely a "tighter fit" and there is definitely an issue and will lead you to have issues with that sensor. I had high expectations and ended up a bit disappointed. If I came into the situation knowing what to expect, I wouldn't have minded. This would be a 9/10 product but after the install issue I couldn't give it more than a 7.5/10.

This is not to bash the company or the product but there are some improvements to be made and some heads up to the customer would definitely improve the customer experience.

Where did you find the install video?

I think you need to take a look at the possibilty of a hardware revision to accommodate the CVTs.

I think you need to take a look at the possibilty of a hardware revision to accommodate the CVTs.

Hey guys! I figured this thread would be a good place to bring up a small issue with the filter on the 27won intake. Be sure to take the smoked cover off and check that the filter is staying tight on the lip of the air box. I only happened to notice that completely by accident and had a hard time getting it to stay on tight without sliding off. I pointed it out to a friend of mine who also has that intake and sure enough his was loose as well. I drive a sport touring and he has an si coupe. Anyway, just wanted to get the word out because it is not super easy to spot without taking the cover off.

The solution: I used some grip tape on the lip of the airbox and then put the filter in its place. It stayed on first try and it has now been over a week of constant driving and it hasn't moved at all. I was told a different way to go about it is to rough up the surface of the lip on the airbox with some sandpaper and that this method works as well.

That being said, I love this intake. Since getting the filter situation taken care of, I have noticed a slight drop in IAT and was just wanting to make sure everyone is getting the best performance out of theirs as well. It's a very simple and inexpensive fix and very easy to not notice unless specifically looking for it.

I think these style filters in general are difficult. I had an issue getting my filter on my PRL CAI. Was pretty darn tough. It seems to stay there just fine however once on...

I see. The issue I ran into was that the filter kept slipping off the lip on the airbox. It's just that the surface of the airbox is very smooth and the filter doesn't have much to hold on to. Grip tape seems to be working so far though..

I see. The issue I ran into was that the filter kept slipping off the lip on the airbox. It's just that the surface of the airbox is very smooth and the filter doesn't have much to hold on to. Grip tape seems to be working so far though..
Absolutely, I noticed when I checked up on my intake the filter was completely off.

That sucks.. what did you do to fix it? I was just tinkering under the hood this morning and saw that my filter is still holding strong so that's two weeks now with no filter slipping. I guess that's long enough to call it fixed haha.

I tightened the bolt to hold it on even more. I was shocked that it wasn't even tight. When I installed it it was torqued maxed out.
