Hi everyone,
I will be picking up a 18-civic lx hatch, on Wednesday and I would like to get that turbo sound more.... Load. Ive red tho that adding like a b.o.v or a c.a.i will cancel my warranty.
I definitely don't want void the warranty, added the 5year one lol
Any suggestions anyone?
Thanks in advance!

"CAN I GET A PRICE CHECK ON RICE?" Ha

Research, learn. Decide.

Search the forum as this very topic has been covered many times.

Short answer. BOV is bad for our engines because they are MAF tuned. Get a CAI from PRL if you want turbo noises.

you cant void your warranty. they have to prove that it was your mod that caused the problem you're bringing it in about. Also, if that specific area had a declined warranty request, they wouldnt be able to then say not fix a problem with your seatbelts or something. In the US they actually specifically have a law that says this. In canada, you are allowed to cite it. Also, when i bought mine, the dealership told me this is the way they operate.

Specifically for the blow of valve, you're really dumb to leave it on to be honest, venting your turbo to the atmosphere instead of the bypass valve is asking for a fuel mixture that runs richer than intended by Honda. This will cause catalytic converter issues and more. However if you had a B.O.V, and you wanted to just throw it on for a day or so of fun and take it off, i doubt there would be too much harm in that. That being said, I would imagine that toying with that would result in laziness and just leaving it on, which is bad.

Magnusson Moss Act in the USA, lots of people love to talk about it. Few people successfully use it.

FYI: installing CAIs on Canadian civics is a complete PITA. Our windshield washer fluid reservoir is on the drivers side, while it's on the passenger side on U.S. models. The only off-the-shelf CAI you can install is the 27WON. Everybody will tell you to go PRL Cobra but unless you want to move the washerfluid reservior, including new wiring and tubing runs, it won't fit. And as someone worried about voiding your warranty, I doubt you'll want do that :p

I just finished installing a Mishimoto intake on my hatch. Sounds nice, easy to install, easy to reverse if required. Good balance between SRI / turbo sounds and less heat soak due to the enclosure.

I've been using this intake. Looks and sounds real good :)
- Installation maintains the lower intake structure. If you've seen intake installations on youtube - removing this is a PITA!
- MAF sensor fit really well
- comes preoiled in a nice bag
- it's affordable :)

Nice intake, very similar to my K&N 63-3516 intake I just installed. Do you notice any changes in sound? I also notice there is no heat shield on your setup? And did you just leave the resonator box down there when you installed this? I had to secure my resonator with a few zip ties to keep it from rattling around.

Hello,
No heatshield, no rattle, as it is secured to the lower resonator box with an aluminum bar from BMS -
Easy install for us Canadians :)
The sound is excellent!
Here's a clip!

Very happy with it. Good value for good manufacturing

WHERE DID YOU GET THAT ENGINE COVER?
I wanted to be different vs. All the fk8 covers out there.
Did quite a bit of searching and ordered from china/taobao :) the shipping was a pain though...group buy anyone?

It is definitely bigger than the other covers out there. I've had it for at least half a year with no issues.

Hey man, where'd you end up getting it from? If you ordered from BMS did you have to pay any duty fees? How much was shipping (roughly)? I can find it from a Canadian reseller for about $100 more than BMS (taking into account the exchange rate as well) - but I can't get a shipping estimate.

BOV is a NO... dont do it.
CAI require relocation windshield reservior.
I have PRL cobra CAI installed on my Hatch and it is quite alot of work around.
I spoke to my local dealer parts and service manager, he confirmed to me that in order to void the warranty, they need to prove that the problem is due to my Modification.

Our turbo is small so the sound cant be big, you will hear a good intake sound with SRI though.
