To be honest, I always put the Duralast gold in all my cars when I need to replace a battery. They have never not lasted me at least 3 years before.
Hmmm but have you put it in your civic (after having the OEM fail on you)?
I have friends who do the same and they all told me to do the same after my civic battery died multiple times, but I was like eh I got warranty lol

Hey I'm almost there too! Lol. I have had 2 replacements so far under warranty on my civic. I have dealt with the batteries failing 4 times in total, but really did not care to get another replacement the last two times so just had AutoZone charge it up and they said it was fine so I skipped going to Honda.

drive in, drop off, leave in loaner. takes 30 minutes tops out of my day. Of course for some that is money lost and their dealer may not be so willing to give a loaner for day work, but mine takes care of me when they can

Just had my battery die today on my 16 Civic. 32.5k miles, 34 months old. Replaced under warranty. This is the fastest a battery has died for me.
But coo1rim is right, it is a waste of time. I had to get car jumped, drive to dealership, have them replace the battery, and then drive home. This amounted to almost 2 hours for me that I'd rather have used on something else.

Coo1rim:
Batteries of Canadian Civics are supposed to be stronger. Is your alternator OK?
You said your new battery is about half the size of the OE. Did you have to make any customization for the installation?

I have the SI, so1.5Turbo. I wonder if Canadian LX sports the same battery as a Canadian SI.

Yeah it sounds like they gave you the group 51R battery instead of the Canadian group 35 battery.

I noticed every Canadian auto part store that I've checked thinks the Canadian Civics have the 51R.

I'd rather have the 35, even if it adds 20lb.

I made a parts list of all the battery related parts that are different on the Canadian model and I plan to swap my US 51R for a Canadian 35 when my battery goes.

I have in our CRV, currently driven by wife, the 51R OEM 100 month battery exactly as shown below.
It was installed Nov 11 2013, which was 5 1/2 years and 60 kmiles ago. It was before the Winter Olympics in Sochi and before the Brazil soccer World Cup...
It still works fine, without any signs of weakening. Probably will die next winter.

So I can't confirm that this battery is inferior. I never had a battery last more than 5-6 years.
But: the car has been kept in the garage and I never use battery without the engine running for more than several minutes, and even this happens rarely.

The "warranty" means that you initially overpay for the battery, and then they return to you a part of what you overpaid if you come back to them for a new battery. This battery was priced at $137.94, a cheaper battery with same parameters but a shorter "warranty" can be bought for < $80

Here is my batter from honda in the US that I posted a few posts back. 500 cold crank amps. LOL 100 month warranty. made it 8. Honda told me this was the last battery they were putting in the car free.

Since mine is 2 years old, next time I bring mine in to my local guy for oil change (probably late July or sometime in August, unless I take a lot of day trips) I will be preemptive and have them replace the battery. I did that on my last car as well.

Being outside in the elements without a garage is crummy.

Yeah, I park in a garage at home and work. and my car is never on except to drive. Im not a sit and listen to music with the car off guy anymore.
My thought is that there is so much more tech and things relying on the ECU and the battery that the ECU doesnt necessarily go to sleep right away and this drains on the batteries. That and if you leave your fob to close to the car in your house it could be constantly trying to communicate with the car as well
